  3. Zuiderdam
Our party of 12(experienced cruisers) embarked from Ft. Lauderdale on the Zuiderdam Nov. 25th. We drove from the Clearwater area and used the pier parking garage ($15/day). Boarding the ship was a snap and we were in the Lido within a half hour of parking. All the luggage arrived safely and was in our rooms by the time we finished lunch. The rooms were all very clean and gift cards from our TA and ship info were awaiting us. We did notice that the ship needs freshening up but it did not detract from our cruise. The ship is easy to maneuver and, as we were on the 4th floor, under the Crows Nest and over the theater, it seemed we didn't have to walk a lot, though we all took the stairs instead of the elevator to offset weight gains! In Puerto Limon we went ziplining, visited the canals and a banana plantation with Eduardo of Lucky Tours....highly recommend, full day for $85. We stayed on board as we transited the canal as there was enough to see and hear to keep our attention without leaving the ship on the offered excursions. In Bonaire we went off the ship and walked around the town. Found a bar on the main street that had free Wi-Fi with the purchase of a coke. In Aruba we got a tour off the pier with "Liedy" a wonderful Arubian woman who showed us the island and made us laugh for 2 hours all for the grand price of $20 per person. We rented the clamshells for the lounge chairs on Half Moon Cay for $15 (for 2 people) and enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing day on the beach. Food. Having cruised on many Holland America ships I have to say the food was not as good as we have had but it was fine. The Lido was repetitious and the dining room was hit or miss at times BUT for the most part we all were satisfied with the food. We did eat in the Pinnacle and enjoyed it very much. Entertainment. The Island Magic Steel Drum band was about the best act we have ever seen!!!! The magician, comedian and singer were entertaining and kept our attention. The cruise director, Jason, was most personable and funny, a real delight. There was a problem with a couple of life boats making noises because of wind/loose ropes, but the front desk took care of it immeadiately and sent up a bottle of wine and homemade chocolates. All agreed it was a wonderful cruise and we could all recommend it.

Panama Canal - Zuiderdam still has it
