Sapphire Princess Cruise Review by Farthews
- Sail Date: July 2019
- Destination: Baltic Sea
- Cabin Type: Balcony
The Skylift from Fjord to Sky at Loen was absolutely stunning!
We were so lucky with the weather, sunshine and blue skies for the majority of the cruise.
A memorable afternoon was at Gerainger when we walked up at the side of the most amazing waterfall ever!
We had to take the tender from the ship as we were anchored in the fjord.
We found part of our excursion in Bergen rather boring.
Initially we were taken by coach to the Funicular station and fortunately didn’t have to queue very long for the transport.
As we climbed up Floen mountain we were met with thick cloud however, as we reached the top the clouds cleared and we were able to see fantastic views from up there.
If we had been able to make our own way back to the ship from this point we would have enjoyed ourselves much more.
There were mountain biking tracks and zip wires plus good walking options but unfortunately we had too return to the coach for a rather boring trip around an extremely busy city.

The bed was amazingly comfortable, even better than on the Royal Princess last year.
The bathroom unfortunately hadn’t been refurbished and was showing signs of wear but was adequate.
Our Senior Cabin Steward,Willy, did a great job of keeping our cabin clean and tidy.
Port & Shore Excursion Reviews
Mount FloyenThe visit to Floyen mountain on the funicular was lovely but we wished we hadn’t booked the city tour by coach afterwards as Bergen was so busy and we would have really enjoyed a longer stay on the mountain as there were lots of things to do.View All 43 Mount Floyen Reviews
GeirangerWe took the water taxi from the ship to the shore and then walked around the little town.View All 143 Geiranger Cruise Port Reviews
We then took the energetic walk up the steps and platforms at the side of the most amazing waterfall.
The water was thundering down the mountain and the whole experience was fabulous.
We walked to the very top where the views were lovely.
We walked back down at the side of the winding road but unfortunately there isn’t a pavement.
We called in at the little church and admired the beautifully tendered graveyard.
We enjoyed a delicious ice cream before returning by the tender to the ship.

We were taken by coach to view a glacier which we walked to the base for a lovely photo point.
We then our coach and were taken to the Sky Lift at Loen- Fjord to Sky in 5 mins.
The experience was fantastic!
