Pride of America Cruise Review by Lynny3
- Sail Date: June 2019
- Destination: Hawaii
- Cabin Type: Family Balcony
This was supposed to be a dream trip for our family of 7.I went all out! Balcony rooms for everyone, beverage pkgs (they tax every drink but don’t tell you this!), specialty dining, etc. First day there was water in our hall, not in our room, but I walked to our room and our door was wide open with all our stuff to see. The lady was rude. Second, I was napping and someone knocked on our door and I told them I was in the room, suddenly a strange guy opens our door and said he needed to do maintenance on our balcony! He said he’d come back later. I’ve never been on a ship where so many strangers can enter your room! Also, they were doing constant painting, oiling, pulling up carpet, etc during the cruise.I wish we had gone to Alaska instead! Staff unfriendly. Also, you do not spend a full two days on each island. One day on Maui and then the second day you have to be on board by 2 pm. Big Island one day in Hilo, back on ship by 3, go to Kona overnight, have to be back on ship by 2:30, go to Kauai one day there, second day back on ship by 2 pm. It’s very deceiving. Oh, and get Uber, Lyft or a taxi to take you places. Fraction of the cost! Pearl Harbor is FREE to the first 1300 people! The cruise ship will charge you per person! Not impressed for the $25,000!!!!
Lynny3’s Full Rating Summary
AWFUL! We had a balcony which was no bigger than a closet. Two cots pushed together with a roll in the middle. It was like sleeping on a hospital bed so don’t expect a real mattress! No room to relax. The bathroom is pretty much like the one on the airplane. Not like Royal Caribbean or Princess balcony rooms where they are worth it!
