  3. Koningsdam
We're a family of four--mom, dad, daughter 17, son 16. We've sailed Disney, Viking, and NCL in the past and travel frequently in and out of the states for business and pleasure. We selected this cruise based on the itinerary--focused on the Greek Isles with few sea days. We view the ship as a floating hotel and booked two inside guarantee cabins. They were spacious with comfortable beds, roomy bathrooms, tons of storage, and great service by the stewards. The Koningsdam itself is a great ship, big enough to never feel overly crowded with lots of nooks and crannies to find privacy and areas to meet new people and mingle--and well designed, appointed, and decorated. The main pool area is especially well-designed with private lounge areas that make it feel like an upscale resort. The crew and service personnel were friendly and gracious. On ship, we had challenges with the MDR handling our daughter's food allergies, so we avoided it. (HAL addressed these concerns to our satisfaction but we did not wish to eat at the MDR after the issues experienced.) We found the food at the Lido buffet and poolside restaurants to be good, with lots of options. The Tamarind and Pinnacle were outstanding. The band at the BB King lounge and the Lincoln Center musicians were excellent. The itinerary was what sold us on the cruise and it did not disappoint. All ports were wonderful. We booked our own excursions and each went off without a hitch. From the boat to the crew, we'd give this cruise a very positive review.
