Have always tried to stay on the small side for cruises, but this itinerary attracted us, so we gave it a try. Having experienced embarkation disasters before we were expecting the worst. Wow!! Walked right in and were directed to a line with no one in it. Walked right to the waiting area and barely got sat down when we were called for the bus to take us to the ship. Right on board. Ordered a drink and prepared to sit awhile. Did not even finish it when it was announced, early, that our room was ready. Bags were in the room. Rocky, our room steward met us and walked us through his spiel. He was great the whole time. Smiling and happy. What can I do for you. Room was a standard balcony. Typical cruise ship room. No problems the entire voyage. I am a big guy (6'1" 260) and the shower was just fine. Wandered up to the Oasis Café for lunch. The variety of food was excellent. Drink folks were around a lot, but not pushy. The food was so good in the Oasis, that we only went to the main dining room one night. A great selection and they would cook chicken, steak, fish, or burgers very quickly. Always a carving station. Loved the gyro meat when it was on. Dinner had most of what was available in the main dining room. Our main dining room experience was good, I just hate dressing up and waiting for the courses. Casino was good. Did not lose money. Can't say that I made a bunch, but I didn't lose. Getting on and off the ship was not a huge problem. There was usually a line, but no big deal. Only used 2 of Celebrity's excursions and only because we had On Board Credit (OBC). Trip to Cork and Jameson was very good and worth the money, but the trip to Honfleur was a serious rip. Just a bus tour with a confused young man in charge of the bus. We used About Dublin Taxi Tours in Dublin and a private tour in Bruges. Those and others were booked with folks on the Cruise Critic thread for our cruise. This was our second Celebrity cruise and I am impressed that they are not pushy about selling you their overpriced art, jewelry, etc. I like the lack of sales announcements, but at the same time we could not hear any announcements because if the TV was not set to the right channel you never got them w/out opening your door. How's that for the biggest complaint....couldn't hear the announcements?? The one early in the morning told you that we were docked and you could get off. Elevators had signs that told you what deck to go to. Hints/Tips... Had to track down the good beer. The Master Cellar wine bar is where they hide the good stuff (Duvel, Leffe, La Fin du Monde). Sunset Bar at the back of the Oasis Café was a great place to watch the world go by. Rarely crowded and if it got cool they brought out the blankets. If Kennedy is working, you will have some great laughs. Brought too many clothes. Entertainment was OK. Best stuff was the folks they brought on for one night. Not a big song and dance guy, so the productions did not thrill me. Never got my chance to call the ship a "boat" in front of a ship's officer. The look that you get is priceless. A great trip.

Large ship that never felt that way.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Verandah
Cabin 1A 7350
Typical ship cabin. Very quiet. Way back where we like to be. A bit of a hike to the elevators, but 7th floor has cabins above and below. Water pressure was good and shower was OK for my big butt.
Bed was comfy. Cabin steward was excellent.

  • Giant's Causeway
Beautiful area. Giant's Causeway was a zoo. Walk down and take the shuttle back. We had a nice beer in the hotel at the top.
Really liked the area around the rope bridge. It is way too safe now, to be billed the way it is. Did not walk all the way down there. Went the other direction and saw a Game of Thrones spot and watched the seabirds and looked across to Islay in Scotland. Volunteers were very knowledgeable.. Belfast looked really gritty. Not impressed.

Our guide Regnier was the best. Lace and chocolate for the ladies. A brewery tour for the bunch. Lunch at Cambrinus was excellent. A stunning little town.

  • Powerscourt Gardens
Matt at About Dublin Taxi Tours took 6 of us to Powerscourt Gardens. Wow!! What a beautiful place. Rated as one of the top 3 gardens in the world by National Geographic. Continued on to the little town of Red Cross and toured the Wicklow Brewery and had lunch at Mickey Finn's pub. Recommend About Dublin Taxi Tours. Matt is good fun and really knows his way around.

WOW!! Overlord Tours did a great job. Thierry our guide was so knowledgeable, spoke excellent English, knew the back roads. Our Lunch stop was great. Everything I hoped for on this 75th anniversary year.

  • Honfleur
Town is gorgeous. Packed on a Sunday, but a beautiful place. Enjoyed it. The 20 minute bus ride with a young, babbling know nothing "guide" was not worth the $44 each. What a rip. Go to the town, but avoid the Celebrity tour. Luckily, we had OBC bucks to use.

Met friends, so we hung around the Albert docks and then took a bus tour. Recommend the Maritime Museum.
