We thought the food great on the ship as well, especially in the Windjammer and the main dining. We did not pay for any of the specialty dinings because I didn't really think it was worth it. The quality of the food in the main dining was excellent and there was even an option to purchase a steak or surf and turf meal in the main dining.
We purchased the drink package, and while I thought it was worth it based on the volume of drinks that we had each day (about 5-6 per person, not even including the sodas and the bottled water that we had as well). My only complaint about the drinks on this ship was the beer selection and the quality of some of the mixed drinks. I didn't find much in the way of draft beer on this cruise (I don't think I found any actually) and there was no craft beer whatsoever. Some of the bars such as the Schooner and Boleros has a decent selection of international beers such as Red Stripe, Guinness Stella and a couple of German beers though. Most of the time, when we ordered a drink of the day, it tasted watered down. I think this is because most of them were pre-mixed but depending on the bartender, some of them made the drinks fresh which ended up being a much better cocktail. There was a bloody mary bar on both sea days, so we took full advantage of that as well. All in all, the drink package was worth it just depends on what type of beverages you prefer.
The activities on this ship were not up to my expectations. As I said earlier, this was my first RC cruise, so I don't know if this is standard procedure for them but I felt there was a lack of activities compared t my prior cruise on Carnival. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty to do and we were never bored. However, it seems like the way they schedule most of their activities, they are don't so there is no overlap. This might be so people don't feel like they are missing out but I felt it ended up making a lot of the events more crowded. We are huge karaoke people, so we were very much looking forward to showing off our talents on this ship. However, this was the biggest disappointment of the whole trip. On our last cruise, we were able to do karaoke every night and the selection of songs was what you would see at any typical karaoke bar on land. On this cruise, the selection of songs was sub-standard and I think because of the lack of activities overall, the karaoke was over-crowed each night. It was so crowded that unless you signed up right when it started, you were not going to be able to perform. By the second night, we decided to not bother with the karaoke and either just stay at the other events that might've run up until the start time of just go grab a drink somewhere. The activities staff were excellent though. We loved their attitude and energy.
This cruise was out of Galveston, which was also our first time porting out of there and we were quite pleased with the ease of getting to and from the terminal. I would go back to Galveston for a cruise again because it is less hectic than going to Miami or some of the other larger ports.
The two stops on this cruise were Cozumel and Progreso. I had never been to either before and based on what some of the employees on the ship were telling us, this was one of the first stops in Progreso. Cozumel was nice, a good tourist location with plenty of restaurant options and shops. Progreso, not so much. It was run down and not very relaxing. We probably only stayed off the ship after a few hours at the beach before heading back because there was not much to do and were were constantly being bothered by locals who wanted to sell us stuff. I guess this is common in a lot of locations but we saw it more so in Progreso than in Cozumel.
Overall, a nice vacation. I would not go back to Progreso but I didn't mind Cozumel. I would like to try a different RC ship in the future though to see if there is more to do on a different ship.

CozumelHappening port, there were about 4 other ships docked there on the day we arrived. Plenty of things to do within the immediate location once you are off the ship. Had a great lunch at Senor Frog, did some shopping and hung out in the water right within view of the ships.View All 6,685 Cozumel Cruise Port Reviews

ProgresoWas not impressed with this location. We did not book an excursion, just wanted to hang out at the beach but the town itself just seemed run down and there was not much to do.View All 460 Progreso Cruise Port Reviews
