The staff of the Star Princess is amazing. They do everything they can for you and are very accommodating. Our embarkation was flawless and without a line, we basically handed our bags to the porters, parked the car and went straight through security, check-in, and boarding without a stop. The itinerary was great and Tracy Arm cruise was beautiful. Our cabin was ample in size, even for 4 people, we didn't feel overly crowded. It was nothing special. Typical outside cabin. The Star Princess is showing her age and is about to be retired out of the Princess fleet of ships. The public areas are wearing down, and the plumbing is getting iffy. Some passengers were having problems with water temperature and or pressure. The food in the main dining rooms was good to very good. I would have said marked it as very good if it were not for the Italian night menu. Their ability to do Italian food properly was not there. But I'm a little bit of an Italian food snob being 100% Italian. The Buffet food was redundant and average at best. No eggs benedict for the morning buffet was my biggest complaint. I like using the buffet in the AM and I missed my eggs benedict! The food in the afternoon was average and boring. I gave up after a few times and just went to the main dining room for lunch, where the food was much better. Entertainment was good (comedian and magician) but did not make it to any of the production shows because they did not sound too appealing to me.

Great Cruise with great staff but older ship and poor buffet.

Cabin Review

Oceanview (obstructed view)
Cabin OY E102
The cabin is an outside cabin, but the window is not part of the ship's hull. There is the promenade deck right outside of the window, so people are constantly walking/running past and can see inside your cabin. I did not mind and knew what I was getting into. But just be aware. The size of the cabin is a little bit above average from our past outside cabins. There are 2 pull down bunks, so this room is ideal for 4 but, might be a pain if just 2 people are in there, since the pull-down bunks are on the side walls, and don't pull down from the ceiling.

The room was in good shape for how old the ship is. The water pressure was fine as well as the water temperature.

Crew living quarters is nearby, so you can get some noise at night time when they are blowing off steam during their downtime, but I did love the easy access to the bow of the ship through the adjacent emergency exit, that was always unlocked and no alarms. I made sure it was ok with some of the crew that lived nearby before using the easy access door to the bow. (promenade deck)
