Island Princess Cruise Review by ssbeagle
- Sail Date: April 2019
- Destination: Panama Canal & Central America
- Cabin Type: Premium Club Class Mini-Suite with Balcony
One thing I did't like was a lot of deck space was removed as was a show lounge so they could add more cabins to the ship. However, despite the higher number of passengers, the ship rarely felt crowded except during show times and many trivia games.
Club class dining had impeccable service. Many of the meals were very good but sometimes they weren't. the quality of meat has gone down.
We had the best cabin steward. He was like a ghost but had our cabin refreshed twice a day and happily fulfilled any requests.
You have to be careful with the ratings on tours. One "Easy" tour had more walking than I could do and I ended up spending most of it on the bus. The tour desk wasn't very considerate of physically challenged people.
Favorite ports included the Panama Canal and Fuerte Amador, Punta Arenas Costa Rica, Puerto Vallarta, San Francisco, and Victoria BC. in Huatulco, there was a horrendous walk from the ship and two three wheel scooters that you could squeeze three people in to get to the shops and tour buses.
I think after four times through the canal, it will be a long time before i do this again.

San FranciscoWhen we got off the ship planning to catch a trolley, there was a free shuttle service to Pier 39 which has a lot of restaurants, eateries and other entertainment. We arrived around 10:15 but left by 11:30 because it was getting very crowded. I found a couple of bargains and we took the free shuttle back to the ship. San Francisco is a beautiful city and very walkable.View All 312 San Francisco Cruise Port Reviews

City TourThe best tour of our cruise! The bus was comfortable and the guide very good. We saw beautiful homes, sea views, and discovered Tim Horton's. We played a trivia game with prizes and were each given a little goody bag at the end.View All 70 City Tour Reviews
