I will begin this review with a great compliment for someone who seldom gets any credit, the ships designer. Most notable is how QUIET the ship is. There was absolutely no noise between cabins, no slamming hallway doors, no outside music etc. The layout of this ship divides it into separate but adjoining areas making it feel like a small ship. Although there were 2800 people on board you never felt crowded. In fact, you never saw large crowds anywhere. Again congratulations to the designers. Our Western Caribbean cruise on the Equinox was terrific. However, it was very obvious that Celebrity has cut back on staffing. For example we did not meet our cabin attendant until 6pm on the second day of our cruise. I will mention, however, that his service was excellent. He just had so many cabins to attend to that he had NO time to chat or do anything extra. Also our waiter at dinner was very slow. Our large table was consistently the last to finish the dinner service. Once again I attribute this to the large number of tables that he had to serve. The ship has many places to get away and relax. The upper lawn deck with it's grass, glass blowing show and quaint bar was a great area. The martini ice bar was a fun area with the bartenders putting on a show of making many different martini's. The cabin was forward on the bridge deck. It was excellent in size and had just minimal storage capability for a 14 day cruise. On entering the first day without the help of the cabin attendant it was almost impossible to find out how to turn on the lights. we struggled in the dark to unpack. We eventually found the switch which was located under the bedside light on the ocean side of the ship. Also we found that if you push rather than turn the rheostat near the door the lights would go on and off. Had the cabin attendant been there there would have been on problem but he was no where to be seen. The balcony was more than adequate and being on the Port side enabled seeing most docking and un-doakings, I highly recommend Celebrity, despite the shortcomings, and the Equinox type of ship. we will return.
