AmaSerena Cruise Review by ColinJanice
- Sail Date: May 2019
- Destination: Europe River
- Cabin Type: Stateroom with French balcony and outside balcony
On board, everything is spotless and attention to detail is obvious throughout the ship. Our cabins were serviced twice per day and hallways and other common areas are kept neat and tidy at all times.
The small complement of guests and crew allows for great interaction. It was wonderful to meet so many people from various parts of the world and to converse at meals, on tours, in the lounge, etc.
The wait staff in the dining room is very attentive. We found them willing to respond to any request, and even to anticipate needs before they were expressed. We often sat in a section served by Mile, who greeted us and served us in a friendly and positive manner.
Our cruise manager Jeanette kept us informed and active throughout. She demonstrated an amazing ability to remember names and often engaged passengers in pleasant conversation. She accompanied many day tours as well and did an excellent job looking after any special needs that arose. She also saw each group of passengers away at disembarkation.
The "wellness coach" Marcelo did a great job motivating passengers to stretch and exercise and be a little more active considering how many calories we were consuming through the week. This was a new feature for us, and though we didn't participate as much as we should have, it is very beneficial. Thanks to AMA for making this option available.
The captain and other crew, though focused on their responsibilities, were friendly and good-humoured in their interactions with passengers.
We found the overall atmosphere of this ship and cruise to be friendly and warm. While we had thought that this might be our last river cruise, our great experience on this one has left us wanting more. We will probably sail with AMA again in the not-too-distant furture.

That is our only quibble about the cabin. The cleanliness of the room was outstanding. Shower and bathroom is well equipped and handy. The beds are very comfortable. Storage is limited but we had no trouble managing our wardrobes for the 10 days. The cabin service is excellent. This is a floating hotel and a home away from home.
