We chose the Norwegian Breakaway as it coincided with a break from my teaching job. I can't imagine how it could have been any better. Just got off the ship yesterday. Each day as we cruised I would ask my husband "Is there anything you would complain about today ?" (as we saw some bad reviews prior to departure). Each day we would just marvel that there wasn't a thing. How do they manage it with 4,000 guests on a ship!?? The staff was friendly and kind. Some people complain that they were not friendly, but I don't need them to be my best friends! They were polite and made an attempt to learn your name, some better at it than others. What more do you need from them? Our steward, Yan Yan, room 9746 was wonderful. Everyone was polite and respectful The free style dining and the food were great. Even the "free" venues were top notch--the Manhattan Room for instance. Each night we enjoyed a 30 to 45 minute floor show while we ate. Cagney's (specialty dining) was our favorite spot thought. We enoyed Savor each morning for breakfast. I enjoyed the eggs Benedict there. The Garden Cafe was nice if you needed a snack. The rooms were as expected (balcony stateroom). Yes, the balconies are smallish, but more than adquate for sitting with a drink, a book, watching the ocean go by. Some people seem to expect to be able to ballroom dance out there! The bathrooms were nice and we had more than enough storage space in the room. Bed was comfortable and we slept well. We never wanted for space near the pools--always found an open lounge chair. I used the walking track on the 16th deck daily. Now for the bars--which people seem to complain about--a lot! We never waited more than 5 minutes for a drink. The serving staff and bartenders were more than adequate to meet the needs of the people on board. There are so many open spaces that the ship never felt crowded. I spent late afternoons relaxing in a comfortable chair at Shakers Martini Bar. The young server there was more than kind. There were plenty of activities if you wanted to partake. I enjoyed the cake decorating demonstration! Most important to me--clean, clean, clean. Every area was spotless. Thank you NCL for a great vacation!
