Norwegian Dawn Cruise Review by s57126
- Sail Date: March 2019
- Destination: Caribbean
- Cabin Type: Mini-Suite with Balcony
This has allowed us to gain many staff friends from housekeeping to entertainers.. We left out of Boston 6 times.
Taking advantage of the reduced flights we sailed out of San Juan arriving the afternoon the ship was to leave. The week before our flight was canceled due to the plane grounding. NCL changed our flight to Jet Blue which we were happier to fly with.
In San Juan we met up with the NCL transport which was confusing when we arrived at the port they sent us get in line, then came back and told us to come get our luggage. Inside the terminal it was fast and easy on to the boat.
We have done the Southern and Eastern Caribbean many times so most ports were on our own. On Barbados we did the Harrisons cave tour, My husband felt that was probably the best tour for the money we have been on. Unknown to us, if you do not take a tour with NCL you do not get the shore excursion credit. Being entitled to $200 obc we only received $50 credit. You get $50 per stateroom per port per excursion.
Dinner reservations is one of the problems I have with the dining package. I tried to make reservations before I left. They showed up one day and were gone 3 days later. When we got on the ship I tried to make them at the desk, but were unable to get any reservation on our package. With some help from a staff member we were able to get reservations for two nights at 5p They offer to many more meal packages than they can accommodate. This is something that needs to be addressed and changed.
Our mini Suite was as usual it fit us well. Our room Steward was excellent.
Our evenings were spent watching Patti and Jose` and being served by Christine, Desiree and Katherine in the Java Café. We wanted to sail with Patti and Jose` again as they were leaving the ship when we did. These people are not only great entertainers, but they are also "Good People" they remember you from past cruises by name and will stop and speak with you.
Afternoons were spent up in the Bimini the best Bar on the Ship. From past cruises we have made some nice friends up here. Jeffrey Escobedo, we have sailed with him 5+ times on 3 different ships from bar waiter to Bartender he is best they have. Irene and Ray Sandoval always going beyond to help with anything you might need. Making us laugh and constantly on the go serving with a smile Marlon Gomez, Jose Roly Sebua, Dubravlea "AKA Jessie", Alexander Araneta. And More I cant remember them all.
The staff on this ship is the best of the nine NCL ships we have sailed.
Disembarking was quick and easy using NCL transfer to the airport for our flight home on Delta.
The Dawn is headed to New York and we will miss her and her staff.
