  3. Norwegian Jade
We sailed on the Jade, which was our 3rd sailing on this ship. The first time, it had just come to TX from Asia. The service was less than desirable, and the ship needed refurbishing. The 2nd time we sailed on her was this past November, the unlucky sailing when it broke down and we were stuck in San Juan until we got flown back to Miami on a charter plane. They say the 3rd time is a charm, and it actually was for us as we had a great experience this time. The ship is very nice inside, with warm neutral colors replacing the very bold, bright colors of several years ago. The ship was always very clean, regardless of what part of the ship we were in. The service and friendliness of the crew was for the most part outstanding. We had wonderful service in the Alizar from Solange, and our room steward Vanessa was great. The food was good, however, the main dining room nightly menu seemed to not be as good as on other sailings we taken with NCL. Cagney's was good, as it always is. We also dined at Moderno, and the service was not as good as what we've experienced in the past. They were busy, however, we were short silverware and tongs, it took 10 minutes to get the sides brought to the table even though we'd already had 3 different meat selections offered. The bar service could be stepped up a bit, especially in the casino. Many times there were no servers to be found in the casino - even when they weren't busy. Many in the casino complained about the lack of service while playing at a machine. Some of them would just wander by - without asking or saying anything at all. The line at the Pit Stop at times was very long, and sometimes the servers working in that area were not friendly at all. With that being said, we did have very good service in both of those areas by 2 particular servers when they were working. Overall, it was a very nice trip. The entertainment was great, as it always is on NCL. Still love NCL, but really wish that they would step up in a few areas. The islands were beautiful, weather was great, and we met some really nice people!

3rd time is a charm!!

  • Catamaran Tour
This was a great excursion!! The crew, the catamaran, the food, the information, everything about this excursion exceeded our expectations!! We did the Catamaran and Snorkel with the Sea Turtles. While we didn't see any sea turtles, we had a fabulous time!! Would for sure do this again!

This was a very short excursion, only really lasting about 45 minutes with a group of 15 or so. Our guide was very hard to understand at times, and for those that had never done an excursion like this in the past, was confusing at times. The swim with the dolphin really only is 2 things - one person is in the middle of the pond and the dolphin swims up to you, you grab the fins and he pulls you back to the ledge. The other "swim" was one person swims out about 25 feet, and the dolphin swims and pushes your feet and takes you back to the ledge. That is the "swimming", which there are other excursions in other places that you actually do swim with them. A lot of money for this, just not sure it's worth it compared to other island excursions similar to this.

  • Island Tour
The island of St Lucia is absolutely beautiful!! We took a private tour that was arranged with others on the roll call. We did a tour of part of the island, including the Mud Baths and Banana Plantation. We drove through several fishing villages, but didn't stop so saw what we could passing through. This was a great excursion until it came time to take the water taxi to the "beach". The water taxi was a speed boat - which was very difficult to get in and out of of, and a tad dangerous for those that might have a physical limitation such as bad knee, foot, etc. You step from the pier, onto the side of the boat (about 6 inches wide), then from there down to the boat seat, then onto the floor of the boat. Anyone with any type of back issue would have been in horrendous pain once we started skimming across the water to the beach - which was a "5 minute" drive. The boat was going extremely fast, and it was windy which made the water choppy, and the boat bounced up and down and landed very hard with each and every wave encountered. The tour was great, except for the water taxi.

  • Island Tour
This was by far the best island tour, and the best tour guide we had. They have stopped taking visitors to Orient Beach, and now go to a different beach. The beach was just beautiful, and was accessed through the Rainbow Restaurant. They rent chairs and umbrellas for 15.00 for 2 chairs and an umbrella. The beach was uncrowded, the water was beautiful - crystal clear. We stayed for about 90 minutes - which wasn't long enough - and then continued on the tour. We went to Maho Beach to watch the planes and had a 90 minutes stop there, allowing time to get lunch and watch the planes. The French Market stop was 30 minutes, which could have been a little longer. Overall, this was by far the best.

We took a private tour with Godfrey Tours and it was very nice. We choose the island tour and beach break. Water and soda provided through the entire trip. Spent time at Megen's Bay - such a beautiful beach!! Would highly recommend!
