  3. Norwegian Gem
This was my first cruise, it was chosen by a friend. We had a great time. The food was amazing, the variety of entertainment was impressive and the staff was pleasant & eager to please. The only disappointment was the disorganized process of leaving the ship for excursions and at the end of the cruise. A few people missed their excursions at our first port due to the excessive lines of people winding down the stairs trying to get off the ship. I would definitely use Norwegian again. The value for our money was impressive and sailing from NYC is really convenient for us. We found a bus through Yankee Trails that brought us right to the port. We tried all of the complementary restaurants plus the hibachi restaurant and the Brazilian bbq restaurant and they were worth every penny. It was easy to get reservations. The food was amazing. Overall, a great trip!

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Snorkeling
We opted for the stingray swim and snorkel excursion. This excursion was well outside my comfort zone but it was absolutely incredible. The stingrays were incredibly gentle and amazing to watch. The guides were knowledgeable And really seemed very willing to educate people about the stingrays. We were able to hold the stingrays and feed them. I am incredibly thankful That my friend pushed me to go on this excursion. Worth every penny.

  • San Juan
We did not plan an excursion for Puerto Rico. We walked the streets and it was really beautiful. We found a man that had parrots. He would put the parrots on your arms And take pictures. One picture for $10, two for $20 or three for $25

  • Island Tour
The tour was very nice with the exception of our trolley hitting a van near a historic Catholic Church. The tour guide and driver were very nice but the accident was terrifying even though no one was injured.

We took a trolley tour. We stopped at the Dutch cheese shop which was very nice, toured Phillipsburg and was dropped off for 30 minutes to shop. After 30 minutes we were picked up and brought back to the shopping area near the ship- very nice, reasonably priced excursion

We opted to wander the shops and it was a very nice experience. We grabbed a cold drink and relaxed for a little while We were only important for 4 1/2 or five hours so we didn’t want to go to far from the ship. Great shopping and really nice people
