As a first-time cruiser (late 20s), the Edge was a wonderful introduction to the cruising world! I read a TON of reviews before going on my trip, and I disagree with most of them. As others have said, the embarkation was a breeze. We showed up several hours earlier than our scheduled time and were on the ship in no time -- it took maybe 10 minutes to get from our shuttle bus to the embarkation ramp. The ship itself is gorgeous. I was in an infinite veranda suite on the 9th floor and it had an unobstructed view. The room attendants were wonderful and attentive, though they were inconsistent on when they came to service the room (twice a day) and we often had to either ask them to come back or leave the room for a bit so they could do their jobs. Wonderful service and we had chocolates on our pillows every night! The elevators were typically pretty timely. I LOVED that the ship gave out aluminum, refillable water bottles and used paper straws in place of plastic. I saw recycling bins throughout the ship, which was great. We had such a great experience in the Cosmopolitan restaurant that we ended up going there for dinner every evening when we didn't have a specialty reservation. Green was our server and he was incredible! My husband has a mushroom allergy, and Green would provide the next day's menu during our dinner so hubby could choose what he wanted to eat the next night and they could make it special without mushrooms. We also went to the Oceanview Cafe a lot and always had a great experience! If you go to breakfast after 8:30, good luck finding a table! It was CHAOS. We went to both Raw on 5 and the Rooftop Garden Grill for specialty restaurants, and they were both AMAZING. It was windy when we were at the Garden Grill, and it made me sad that the manager felt the need to go to each table to apologize for the wind. Seriously, people complain about the weather?! Ridiculous. The food was incredible and I highly recommend the seafood kabobs - so good. I wasn't feeling well and left dinner early that night, and they packed up a whole new dinner plus dessert to give to my husband to bring to me. Great service! Raw on 5 had delicious, fresh seafood and Tira, our server, was wonderful and so sweet. The on-ship comedians were both hilarious and the shows were interesting but strange. Talented performers, for sure, but a lot of the people I spoke to were confused and didn't understand what the performers were aiming for with the shows' content. We also attended a wine mixing class offered to us the first night at dinner from our sommelier, Belinda (it was $35/person, I think), which took place on the last at-sea day and it was a blast! Totally worth the extra spend. The biggest issue I had with the ship, honestly, were the entitled, rude passengers. I was amazed at how many times I got cut off in line for a drink/dinner/customer service and how many people pushed and shoved to get a space on the elevator. I ended up taking the stairs almost all the time -- even to go from my room on floor 7 to deck 15. There was also a group of unattended children that were extremely annoying on more than one occasion. Overall, the Edge was a great experience and I can't recommend it enough!!

Cabin Review

Edge Stateroom with Infinite Veranda
Cabin E1 7250
The room was beautiful and I loved the infinite veranda. It was great to have the IV down in the evening and listen to the ocean as we fell asleep. The mirrors in the room did fog up due to humidity if the IV was down too long, but that's to be expected. I thought the IV was great!

We did the Climb the Coba Pyramid and Cenote Swim excursion and it was great! Our tour guide, Carlos, was knowledgeable and entertaining and the bus ride to/from the different locations afforded wonderful views of mainland Mexico.

  • City Tour
We had a long time between disembarkation and our flight home, so we booked a hop-on/hop-off tour of Miami. The tours were great, but Celebrity's description was inaccurate. It said there were four tours to choose from, taking a total of five hours to complete, and there were only two, which took up fewer than three hours. We still had a ton of time to kill after completing both tours.

  • Grand Cayman
Our stingray swim ended up being canceled due to inclement weather, but Celebrity was very quick to issue refunds (within 24 hours of the cancellation) and we were able to independently explore Grand Cayman.

  • Ernest Hemingway House & Tour
The tour was great and our tour guide was wonderful, but Celebrity's description was a bit misleading. The tour was more of a general tour of Key West, leading up to the Hemingway House, but it wasn't Hemingway-focused. I loved seeing all the polydactyl cats!!
