This ain't my first rodeo! I've been fortunate enough to have been on a dozen or more cruises in the past and this was my 3rd NCL cruise. The first was absolutely horrible and the second was much better so we took a third chance. The following is my loonnnggg explanation of my honest opinion. Booking the cruise was a complete and utter disaster and made me want to change cruise lines but there were 13 other people I was to travel with so I was outvoted. We wanted to book on the Pearl, I believe, it was out of Tampa but had issues with the group department. We booked anyway but ended up getting cancelled because someone with more money than us apparently chartered the whole ship. Fortunately, my husband is a teacher and he was home on spring break when this happened so he was able to get us rebooked on the Getaway. This was frustrating though because Miami costs more to fly to and hotels cost more. Embarkation/disembarkation was fine each time except the maze we had to travel with our luggage on Sunday morning but whatever, not a huge deal. The ship was beautiful, seemed to still be brand spanking new. I loved the decor for the most part. The cabin was exactly how I've had it before: small. We saw our room attendant only once and he was nice. He didn't leave us any new pool towels though when I left one on the floor which I thought was weird. But I was the only one in our room that used them so two was enough for the week. The dining on this ship was good in terms of food for the most part. There was a few sketchy items ordered but nothing horrible. I think the service in any of the complimentary dining rooms was SEVERELY lacking. The staff was friendly but not overly friendly. They clearly do not work for tips. And dinner took 2 plus hours every single night whether it was just my husband and myself or a group of us. Even when we told them we had a show to get to and would have had plenty of time. The dining rooms were never overcrowded so I'm not sure what the problem was. Our first night my husband and I went to dinner alone, he made dinner reservations months before the cruise. We didn't get a table until a half an hour after that and the service took 2 hours. The bar staff was MEH... took forever for anyone to get a drink. People would get really frustrated because others would be served first. I don't know the trick to be served quickly without being a young, attractive female. I will say the entertainment on this ship was fantastic. Million Dollar Quartet was on the Escape, my first NCL cruise but I had such a horrible time on that ship I didn't go to any shows. I am so glad I went this time! I learned something while on vacation about those men and they were SO talented! Frank Townsend was hilarious! And the Cirque Dreams show was sooooo good! The other comedians were okay and the Burn the Floor show was okay. The dancers were fantastic but there wasn't a story line to the show or not one that I could tell. Service on this ship, and all NCL ships is MEH. I work in the hotel industry at a upper scale brand and I guess I expect the same service. It's been several years since being on a Carnival cruise but the service on Carnival is FAR superior to NCL in pretty much every way. Again, as I've been on many cruises before I've been to most ports before. Cozumel sure has changed though. I remember going there and thinking Mexicans hated Americans the way in which we were treated there. This time was utterly overwhelming with the sales pitches on the street. I won't go back to Cozumel again on any ship or Cruise line. Perhaps my experience there would have been different had be done a shore excursion. But I am pregnant so there wasn't a lot I was physically able to do. NCL's private island, Harvest Caye was really not my favorite either. I guess most cruise goers want to see a fake setup cruise ship island. Not me. I'm from NY where its cold and very different from the Caribbean and when I go somewhere I want a real experience. This island was fake fake fake! I want a real, authentic experience of a place. All in all I had a good time. It was nice to get away from the snow and be on the beach and in the ocean in warm weather.

Not bad but not great
