Celebrity Edge - Our brief review.
We boarded the Celebrity Edge on February 3 and departed on February 17.
This is an amazingly beautiful ship however there are far too many short-comings for our return.
The crew throughout the ship were close to excellent.
Four beautiful main restaurants vs the standard two story arrangements.
Aqua spa cafe much enlarged.
The outward facing layout is a big plus.
Shower door is much larger and bathroom in general is larger.
Lots of small shelves to store things.
No Sky Lounge !!!. The upper portion of the front of the ship is pretty much for the sole use of the privileged “Suite Class”
Very very unfriendly design for handicapped persons. The two level curved track, many stairs to access some areas, a lot of soft carpet making walkers and wheelchairs very hard to use.
Infinity balcony veranda appears to have badly missed the market, 8 out of 1 of the many people I asked prefer the traditional balcony. The balcony is very narrow with no room for stools or lounge chairs. Every single person asked said they left the interior doors open never closing them. These doors only take up space with no apparent purpose.
Eden: Although meant to be the center of attention it appears to be a flop. Both the layout and the apparently unpopular shows.
Captains Club: Even though Elizabeth our Captain Club Hostess was excellent the downgrade of the Captains Club continues. Even though we were top cruisers on leg two and second top on leg 1, we did not even get to have lunch with the Captain. Celebrity no longer give a dam about their Loyal Clients. All attention of senior management and apparently senior staff is directed to the “Suite Class” Not enough time for the other 90% of their guests.
Closets: Only about ten inches to hang clothes.
Shops: Only ultra high-end shops, Tiffany etc.
Sorry to say, in hind-sight I should not have gone on this ship. Many experienced Celebrity cruisers expressed their opinion of this being a huge mistake by Celebrity. After 62 Celebrity cruises I very much agree.
