We had a wonderful time on this trip, most of the ports were great. We talked to many people while on board, and even flying home, everyone seemed to say the same things. Wishing there was a day at sea in the middle of the week. We almost need another vacation from our vacation! It was unanimously said that Grenada should have been the day! I heard one person got brushed by a moving vehicle, the roads were insane! Food on board was ok-great depending on where you ate. The Garden Cafe had great variety, definitely something for everyone. The only other restaurants we were able to get reservations for were Aqua, the other main dining room, and Bamboo. We would have loved to try the Brazilian steakhouse but couldn’t get a reservation. We did go in for the mojito bar and noticed a few empty tables, so I’m not sure why we could never get in. I was craving crème brûlée the whole trip, on the last night while dining at Aqua I asked our server Casey if there was any way I could get one? She checked with her supervisor and came back to let me know that it was possible but I’d have to pay extra for it. $4.99 was absolutely worth it! Maybe put an a la carte menu on the dessert menu for things like the creme brûlée, and other desserts that are available at the paid restaurants. I had quite a few people ask how I got it, and would have been more than happy to purchase one! We took advantage of the spa services. I had a wonderful massage from Lucy. We also purchased the thermal spa for the length of the trip. It was a nice option, however the one therapy jacuzzi is very difficult to get into and out of. The one closest to the windows looking out. The pricing for the spa was outrageous, and under normal circumstances I wouldn’t have even entertained the thought of spending that much money, but I was lucky enough to have it gifted to me.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony
Cabin BA 10660
Room was fine. In this day and digital age there needs to be more outlets, or even just USB ports in the reading lights. It was impossible to keep everything charged. Luckily we both brought rechargeable power banks. A few more hangers, or 1-2 more drawers would have been nice as well. Our steward was great, we loved coming back to our cabin in the evenings to see what kind of towel animal we had!

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Catamaran Sail
My favorite excursion of the trip!! The staff was so great. The water was a bit choppy for me so I decided not to snorkel on this trip, they opened the bar early for those of us who stayed on board. The rum punches were amazing! The snorkel guides brought a bag of bread out with them and fed the fish so that people really got an upclose and personal view!! Lunch was served once we pulled up on a beach. We hung out there for about 1.5 to 2 hours so we could eat and swim. Then a short ride back to the shore and back on our ship! We really really loved this one!!

We traveled with friends who have been to Aruba beforehand, so we just took a short walk from the ship to a super cool beach bar. We were able to rent lounge chairs and umbrellas, have drinks and lunch and it was still only $30 per person. Food, drinks, and rentals!! The beach was beautiful!

The crew of the Catamaran was great! We had a wonderful time on this one. The captain did a great job of pointing out the homes of celebrities and Uber rich! The food was amazing, and even though we only saw 1 turtle it was still a beautiful ride/snorkel/swim, and sailing day!

  • Aquarium
The aquarium was awesome! We loved it. Also pay the $20 for the dolphin kiss, 1000% worth it! Went to a beach after and we were told that on the side we were all the beaches were man made. This was evident by how dirty the sand was. I know that sounds weird or impossible, but trust me, with no natural way for the sand to be filtered and cleaned with the tide they need to invest in something to clean it up. At first glance it looks beautiful, but a minute if laying face down on a lounger revealed a ton of hair, cigarette butts, bandaids etc. my flipflops stayed on from that point on.

  • Spices and Waterfalls
Our least favorite port. The waterfall was beautiful, but you get off the bus and there are people trying to sell you stuff right then and there. It was like this at every spot. I know that this is how their locals make money, but it gets old after a bit.
It was interesting to learn about all the spices and exports!

  • Rum Tasting & Distillery Tour
This one was just ok. They took us to a wood carving studio first, then then on a tour of the island. When we got to the distillery we watched a short video, were given a very brief tour, and were set loose in the “tasting room” it was self service... it did not end well for a few people. They did have rum available to purchase yet the credit card terminals weren’t working (island wide we were later told) so many people left empty handed.

Unfortunately I was sick this day and only strolled out to the shops. I did hear that there is still a lot of work to be done since the hurricanes hit.

We only got off the ship to see what they had for shopping. There is only high end shopping off of the pier, we found one place selling souvenirs tucked away. The island looked nice, I didn’t hear of anyone’s experiences.
