We chose this cruise mainly for the itinerary. We wanted to see Cuba and liked the fact that it only went to Cuba and involved several overnights. We really got a chance to experience several ports in Cuba. We also like cruising on the smaller ships. The service is more personal and you get to know the other passengers. We had a balcony cabin and it was perfect. There was enough storage space, bed was comfortable, and we made good use of the balcony, having breakfast there twice and using it for the sail-aways. We are glad more cruise ships re offering open dining as the Journey does. The food was excellent, prepared and presented well. The portions were just right for us, but those with bigger appetites can always order more food. The wait staff was very well trained and friendly. If you want fancy shows and lots of entertainment, this is not the ship for you. But we really enjoyed the ambiance and intimacy of this small ship. And there was enough to do and see. Over all, we loved the ship and the accessibility of the Captain. He was often seen walking around, and welcomed questions and conversation.

Very Impressed

Cabin Review

Club Veranda Stateroom
Cabin V3 7010
The cabin was clean and comfortable with enough storage for everything. You can tell that the attendants take pride in their jobs and the rooms reflect that. They were friendly, called us by name, and kept the room immaculate. When I mentioned that our seat cushions on the balcony had gotten wet (we had some rain) they were immediately replaced and towels provided as well. They really go out of their way to please.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

We took the tram that was at the port. It took us for about an hour’s ride around the town and to the lovely area of Punta Gorda with some beautiful old buildings. After that, we shared a taxi with another couple and went to the town of Trinidad. The cost was $70 for all of us, and it took a little over an hour to get there. It was an interesting town with some colorful buildings but not much else. There were some nice restaurants there and we had a very nice lunch at the El Dorado Restaurant.

We booked a tour in a convertible. The driver and English speaking guide were excellent. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and knew his history. There was a small misunderstanding. I was of the impression that it was a 6 hour tour in the car, but it turned out to be a 4 hour car tour with a 2 hour walking tour which we didn't really want. But we enjoyed the variety of experiences and sights and would book with them again.

The show was very good. Lots of color and good music. I just thought it was overpriced, as most of the shore excursions booked through the ship tend to be. We very seldom book shore excursions, but wanted to see the Tropicana show. We enjoyed it.
