Viking Star Cruise Review by Karches
- Sail Date: March 2018
- Destination: Mediterranean
The pre-embarkation tour of Madrid was informative and the hotel was so comfortable and had a great location. Having been on several other cruise lines, we were prepared for a tedious embarkation process. Imagine our surprise and delight when we showed our papers to one person and then simply walked "plank" to enter the ship. The end of our cruise was just as easy and our luggage was ready and waiting for us.
The ship exceeded our expectations - beautiful cabin and comfortable size, food was always delicious and we took advantage of the many varied entertainment choices as well as fun games and activities. We were always busy but tried to find a few hours to relax in the beautiful lounges. The staff was so considerate, friendly and always willing to do whatever we needed to make our trip more enjoyable.
The tour guides we had were so friendly, full of knowledge and information about the unique places we visited. The weather did not cooperate so in the future we would go a bit later in the year, but in spite of those uncontrollable circumstances we will definitely take more Viking cruises and have recommended this Cruise Line to many of our friends.

City TourWe were booked for the Paleokastrista Monastery tour but weather cancelled the tour, so we did the walking tour of Corfu. Loved this small Greek town and the opportunity we had to stop at local cafes, eat lunch at a deli type restaurant and do a bit of shopping while enjoying the old-time architecture of the town.View All 47 City Tour Reviews
Walking TourThe weather was perfect which influenced our choice of Dubrovnik as our favorite stop. We saw wonderful vistas on the bus tour that took us to the town. The guide shared much history of the area and then we were left to discover this ancient fortress on our own. I would definitely walk the city walls if I were to go back, but we enjoyed walking the narrow streets, a bit of gift buying and relaxing with beverages.View All 57 Walking Tour Reviews
Nice & EzeNice and Eze looked like they would have been delightful to walk, but unfortunately it rained harder imaginable so we spent most of our time soaking wet in cute small bakeries and cafes. Viking does provide large and useful umbrellas! The rain stopped in time for us to take a healthy walk to the Casino and around some of Monte Carlo. The port there is full of splendid yachts and so convenient to the city.View All 28 Nice & Eze Reviews
City TourThe tour was okay but not as interesting as the other tours on the trip. Our guide was well-informed but Naples does not have as much to offer as other ports.View All 64 City Tour Reviews
City TourWe went on the Tiber River tour and walked from the Aventine Hill to Tiber Island. We visited parts of Rome that we had not seen before and some lesser known churches. Our guide was most knowledgeable and we learned so much more than we had known about Rome.View All 319 City Tour Reviews
Walking TourA charming town with unbelievable Diocletian Palace. It is inspiring to be able to walk through such an old medieval stone building. Once again the guide really knew his history and made the ancient times come alive. A tour of the Ethnographic museum really showed what life was like in this area years ago.View All 32 Walking Tour Reviews
ToulonWe actually stopped in Marseilles and took a tour of the Domaine de Fregate winery which was very informative about the wine-making process in France. Then we walked the streets of the quaint village of Castellet with amazing views of the Cote d'Azur region.View All 298 Toulon Cruise Port Reviews

Padua Walking TourOnce again, rain and even some snow, dampened this tour which began several hours late due to a weather-delayed entry into Venice. However we did get a taste of what Padua had to offer in spite of the rain. It would be great to visit again in sunshine, but we were able to really feel at home with a hot drink at Pedrocchi's where we were told that years ago they served the poorest people and students.View All 7 Padua Walking Tour Reviews
