Carnival Conquest Cruise Review by ColoradoExceptInWinter
- Sail Date: December 2018
- Destination: Southern Caribbean
- Cabin Type: Balcony
This plan worked except for Chef's Table and the Steakhouse. The Chef's Table was one of the best dinners ever!!! If you can get in on this, do it. Wow we were impressed. The chefs and wait staff were tremendous. Each little piece of food is described then tasted - and the tastes go on and on. Wow! The Steakhouse was just ok.
We walked the track on the top deck quite a bit - that worked well. We only got to the gym a few times. We walked several miles in ports. Oddly enough you have to go through the spa and through restrooms there to reach it. We also snorkeled (brought our own gear) in all four ports.
We didn't have any trouble with others smoking when on our balcony (this is a pet peeve - that eliminates the use of the balcony we paid for, and we report it when/if it happens). Carnival imposes a $500 per incident fee to those who do smoke in their cabins/balconies, along with the threat of disembarkation at the next port(!). The starboard side of the ship up high and on a lower deck is reserved for smoking. Plenty in the casino too.
Princess Cays is always nice, but keep in mind that with regard to smoking, it is actually one huge ash tray. People can and do smoke anywhere, even on the beach in the middle of a crowd of people. Snorkeling here was fun off of the pier and back along the beach.
Turks and Caicos is always a good beach stop. Fun drop off to snorkel farther out.
Curacao is a good port too. But we took a tour from Viator (Curacao City Taxi) there and were greatly disappointed. First, they couldn't decide what time they'd be picking us up. Then, the Cato Caves tour was slow and very short. Our guide forget to bring any water. Mambo Beach was horribly overcrowded, slow, and expensive. We won't book via Viator again.
In Aruba we took the "Mi Dushi" tour through the ship. Admittedly Mi Dushi is now on a new boat, but this was our third time doing this there. Fun again too! Highly recommended.
On board the Carnival Conquest, the service and staff were great - with one exception. We set up a studio photo shoot. Olina (the photographer) never called us to see the photos (nor were they on the Carnival Hub app). So we went back down. We were apologized to and told she'd be told to call and set up an appointment. Nope. Never again. We never even saw the pictures. If you get photos taken onboard, be sure to avoid Olina.

One issue was the black tar used on the lines on our balcony - that did come off on our feet. It doesn't go away no matter how much you wash!
