Celebrity Reflection Cruise Review by merseybeat
- Sail Date: December 2018
- Destination: Southern Caribbean
- Cabin Type: Sky Suite
The shore excursions were expensive and mostly disappointing. For example, Grenada promises the perfume of spices filling the air! Couldn't smell a thing. The visit to the nutmeg factory was depressing. A few scowling women sorting through nutmegs. And hordes of tourists gaping at them. The spectacular waterfalls we were taken to, were just a dribble of water that would never qualify as a waterfall anywhere else! And again a bunch of people wondering what on earth we were doing there...The chocolate experience in Santa Lucia was also really dreadful. A rip off. Having said this. The excursions are not Celebritys fault as they are a product of the island in question.
All in all a great cruise. I wouldn't visit the Caribbean islands again on a cruise though. The weather was wonderful though which explains why so any people stayed on board.
The shows were average with the exception of the comedians.
The live music throughout the ship was exceptional. Top level.

The only negative of this cabin is having to walk through the group of bored spa masseurs who giggle and chatter outside in the corridor of the spa when they have no work to do. I found that annoying sometimes especially as they chatter in what I assumed to be Thai so I couldn't understand!!

Island TourWe took a tour to Nelsons Dockyard and to the beach. It was ok. The beach was not named in the tour and we were very disappointed it was just some random beach. We did not like the tour guide who made rude comments to some British visitors because of the islands history. She should not work in tourism if that is a problem for her.View All 160 Island Tour Reviews
ArubaWe bought a bus pass and visited several beaches. You can buy a one day pass for ten dollars and visit several beaches. We did that on the first day in Aruba but decided to stay on the ship on the second day.View All 1,636 Aruba Cruise Port Reviews

BarbadosWe enjoyed strolling around Bridgetown on our own. It felt much more like a proper town than many of the other stops on the cruise.View All 1,520 Barbados Cruise Port Reviews

CuracaoThis is a very pretty island. We wandered around and had lunch and visited some of the local monuments. But we did not want to spend 10 dollars each to visit synagogue or the same for a small local museum preferring to spend on lunch and breakfast! Its nice to walk out of the main tourist area to the neighborhoods that are not so renovated. But all in all we enjoyed Curacao very much .View All 1,243 Curacao Cruise Port Reviews

Spices and WaterfallsFor s start the bus broke down. And we had to get out while the locals tried to push it to get it to start. There was no air conditioning.View All 31 Spices and Waterfalls Reviews
The nutmeg factory was depressing and the promise of a dip in a waterfall was a joke. My daughter took her swimsuit and there was nowhere to swim.
St. LuciaThe drive to the hotel was interesting as it was on the other side of Santa Lucia in Soufrieres from the port Castries where we landed. But the tour was way overpriced. We learned to make a chocolate bar. Which at 200 dollars each for the tour was the most expensive chocolate bar I had ever eaten!View All 12,810 St. Lucia Cruise Port Reviews
