Just completed a 2 week trip to the Caribbean The ship is very impressive with great staff Itinerary was good including port visits to Antigua, Barbados, St Lucia, Grenada and the ABC Islands The entertainment was second to none with great shows each night and plenty of live music in venues around the ship One slight disappointment was that once leaving the main restaurant there was very few places to sit and continue the interaction with other guests you had meet during dinner, unlike most other ships the atrium area was a little disjointed with limited seating The food selection in the main dining room and buffet area was very extensive with no complaints from anyone we could see, and for us Brits very hot water for our tea A good selection of speciality restaurants are available but slightly more expensive than most other ships, we found that staff would offer discounts most nights which brought the price down by around 10% There appeared to be 3 different drinks packages available:- Standard, Classic & Premium, we had the Classic package which allowed us any drink up to $9 in price, however Vitamin water in the buffet priced at $4.5 was excluded for some reason. In the Martini bar situated within the atrium area all cocktail started at $12 which was a little strange as most people appeared to have the Classic package, all this meant was that the staff used different spirits in your drink I think Several people mentioned that at key times such as pre dinner or show time there was a lack of bar staff and not all the bars opened which was a little disappointing as on several evening we had arranged to meet friends for drinks before dinner and could not find bar or waiter staff Would we cruise with Celebrity again? Yes

Great ship but a little disjointed

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Antigua
Took local taxi from port to Dickenson Bay $12 each way for 4 adults, around 10/15 minutes
Beach umbrella and 2 beds cost $20 per couple
Swam to Kon Tiki Bar & Grill (Floating Bar) for a few beers, they will take you and bring you back by boat if you don’t want to swim, just stand on beach and wave, we came back on boat

  • Beach
$5 per person in taxi to Eagle Beach & $3 per person on return trip by bus, both vehicles are the same.
Palm Beach is very crowded and built up so unless you arrive early you will not be able to hire sunbeds

  • Island Tour
Booked an independent island tour with a local tour operator outside the port along with 8 other guests, cost $20 per person for a 4 hours trip
Taken to an Aloe Vera plant, very interesting then of on the island tour.
Good commentary from our driver, but sometimes a little difficult to understand him
In all honesty there is very little to see on Aruba except the beaches and the roads are very rough in places, so if you have any sort of back problem don’t go on this trip
As on previous islands met plenty of people from the ship at each stop who had booked with Celebrity for twice the price. If you have to confidence then local operators offer a better price than the ship

  • Barbados
Took local taxi from port to Browns Beach (Carlisle Bay) $5 each for single journey, if you tell them your return time you are given a ticket and you taxi will pick you up on time (10 mins from ship)
You go through a hotel/restaurant to the beach and sun beds and umbrella’s plus Wi-Fi cost $20 per couple
This is one of the beaches that tour operators bring guests to swim with the turtles, so if you are a good swimmer you and do this for free (around 150 metres from beach)
The beach is long white sand which is fabulous, and the café/restaurant serves good food and drink at reasonable prices

  • Snorkeling
Booked a local taxi to Coco Beach, a great place to snorkel and see hundreds of exotic fish, cost is $5 per person each way.
As we only had around 6 hours in port this is a great place to go only 10 minutes from the port with good facilities when you get there

  • Curacao
You can walk from the ship to town in around 10 minutes and a taxi to the local beach (Mambo Beach) is only 10 minutes away $5 per person.
Shopping here is tax free with lots to choose from

  • Sulphur Springs Mud Bath
Booked an independent tour with a company called Spencer Ambrose Tours that offered a tour of the island with stops at the mud baths, waterfall and beach all by speedboat including lunch for $85 per person
A great day out put a few points to note
    1. If visiting the mud baths then leave all your jewellery on the ship and don’t dress in your best beachwear as the sulphur can react with both
    2. Getting on and off the speedboat can be very challenging, so if you have limited mobility check with the operator first
    3. Take plenty of sun cream
    4. If you like snorkelling then take gear with you, although you can hire mask and snorkel for around $7 per person
    5. Beach foot wear is highly recommended as the snorkelling area is rocky in places as is walking to and from the mud baths/waterfall
