Norwegian Jade Cruise Review by BDAN8V
- Sail Date: September 2018
- Destination: Transatlantic
- Cabin Type: Mini-Suite with Balcony
Simply an amazing itinerary on a fantastic ship!
The cruise was amazing, seriously a trip of a lifetime. I'm not sure if you're familiar with the itinerary, but it was as follows:
Southampton -> Lerwick Lerwick -> Iceland Iceland -> St.Johns, Newfoundland St.John's -> Halifax, NS Halifax -> Portland, ME Portland -> NYC NYC ->Miami
We disembarked in NYC after 14 days.
I can't really pinpoint what the best thing about it was, because it was all really tops. It ticked a lot of boxes for us, transatlantic, included a couple days in Iceland, the Canadian Maritimes, fall colors changing, cooler weather, AWESOME pace (nice variety of ports to sea days) and ending (for us) in NYC.
The boat, was fun for me to sail again on it, last time it was still Pride of Hawaii. Loved the boat. It was great for our needs. The mini suite was a great size, and we even used the balcony more than we thought we would. The amenities on the boat are great, we really like all the newer specialty dining, especially Moderno. O'Sheehan's was like the hub for most meetings, and cocktails and debriefing at the end of each day.
The staff were awesome! Be sure to go meet Bambang and Stefan at O'Sheehan's! They're a blast!
I've cruised a variety of lines, as I'm from Bermuda, so getting there is normally best via cruise. NCL is a fantastic value for the money, and a great compromise between party boats and chilled out cruising. It's not super fancy, but certainly a step up from Carnival, but it's not like Celebrity. I don't really discriminate, I love cruising either way.
