If you choose or are given this cabin (guarantee) be prepared to use earplugs for a restfull night. This cabin is directly opposite the aft stairwell/elevators. The elevator arrival chimes are so loud 24hrs the chimes from the Lido deck above and Empress deck below can be heard clearly. This was reported to guest services who contacted housekeeping to have the fire doors closed at night. Unfortunately communication between the two wasn't the best, forcing us to call and attend guest services numerous times. There is often a noise like thunder coming from the Lido directly above. We couldn't work out what this was exactly. Apparently this ship was refurbished in 2017. I doubt very much this included our cabin. It looked very tired, the sofa was broken meaning the drawers wouldn't close fully, the mirror in the bathroom was tarnished and the balcony door had to be pulled firmly or slammed to stop the wind whistling through(apologies to our neighbours). We ate in the steakhouse on the first night taking advantage of the free house wine. The servers were friendly and somewhat attentive but like the main dining room the service was disjointed. We had to ask more than once for things that had been missed. The steaks were not as good as we have had in the past either. We cancelled our reservation for later in the cruise. People we met told us when they visited later in the cruise it was worse. Third party of 10 were seated at 8pm their appetizers arrived at 9.20pm, they left the steakhouse at 11.15pm. It may have been down to the fact we chose your time dining in the main dining room but there seemed to be no set tasks for each server. Two nights we had to ask for bread, twice at one sitting because whoever we had asked had forgotten and gone to do something else. Plates were taken before the other had finished no coffee offered.... One thing very apparent on this cruise was the lack of visible hand sanitizers, especially in the Lido. The entertainment was good. I appreciated the comedy club being emptied after each adult performance, giving everyone a chance to sit and enjoy the comedians. There could have been more activities planned during the 3 sea days. The sea day before disembarkation we along with many others had a late breakfast meaning we weren't hungry until mid afternoon, by this time the lido was closed meaning long queues for burgers, deli and pizza. The outside movie theatre is a fantastic idea including popcorn. I just wish the bar/security staff had the authority/guts to ask a group of loud i presume drunk ladies to move elsewhere so we could hear the movie without distraction.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Island Tour
A minivan tour with a tall Dutch man. 6 in the van $15 each for 2hrs. We visited the rock formation, Aloe Vera factory, a rum tasting and the lighthouse. He was very informative and went at our place.
