We traveled with 32 total friends and family. By family my husband and I brought our 2 sons, 23 and 19 yrs old. The total trip cost our family approximately $20,000. The cost per person on NCL was very reasonable, it was the other costs that really added up for a family of 4 from the US to get to Italy and stay in Italy the night before and after the cruise. This time of year it is 95 degrees in Italy and Greece with lots of tourists visiting. I was surprised by the desert like conditions on the Greek Islands. The shops in each town were all very similar and very touristy. Would suggest going to Paridise Beach in Mykonos- well worth the bus trip and fee for a chair and umbrella ($7 for chair and $6 for umbrella). Also did the hop on hop off bus in Korfu that was worth the price of $20 per person. The tenders were extremely crowded and hot. Would suggest waiting until all the assigned tenders have completed their routes then go to shore after all the big crowds on a tender that is not full. Be prepared for crowds of people no matter where you go. Also be prepared for lots of walking and wear comfortable shoes for walking. An older lady in our group twisted her leg and injured her tendon needing to use a cane a majority of the trip. This cruise is not for the elderly or those that are not mobile. The stop in Croatia was by far our favorite with a visit to the Old City Walls. Be prepared to walk up over 1,500 steps but it is well worth it. Compared to other cruise lines I've been on, such as Disney and Royal the main dining choices were not as grand. As an example, the prawns were not the size nor taste of those on other cruise lines. We were pleasantly surprised that there wasn't a wait at any of the dining rooms for diner. We did plan ahead and scheduled diner with reservations every night; however even when we didn't have a reservation there wasn't a line. The wait staff at poolside was very pleasant. The wait staff in main dining rooms treated you as if they were they to get your order and drop off your food, not customer friendly at all. The shows were good but not as grand as other cruise lines. The variety was also disappointing - too many singing and dancing shows. The room was to be as expected. Met our expectations and was kept clean and tidy for us at all times. Can't say enough good things about Melvin our cabin steward. Would not do this particular cruise again, but mostly due to the port of calls not the cruise line. The temperature was too hot and there too many people and the atmosphere was all the same shops at every port. Overall NCL did a good job but did not exceed our expectations.

Supposed to be the Vacation of our Lifetime - not so

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Inside
Cabin IB 9099
Cabin was fantastic. We normally choose a balcony room; however since we traveled with our sons, to save some money we choose inside cabins and they were fine. Melvin our cabin steward was there when ever we left the room and made it up again and re-supplied everything.

  • City Tour
Booked the hop on hop off bus right at the port station, it was $17 per person. Included headphones that told about sites in the city as you toured. We only got off at one stop, otherwise stayed on the bus since it was extremely hot outside that day. Enjoyed the ride and learning about the city.

Well worth it to catch the bus and walk the Old City Walls. BE prepared for many steps, over 1500 I believe. Felt like I was on the set of Game of Thrones. LOVED IT

Walked around the city on our own, Many of the shops were much the same with merchandise that was very touristy. Stopped at a tavern and enjoyed a locally brewed beer that was great. Enjoyed seeing all the streets with weaving alleyways and buildings. The gelato was also awesome.

  • Paradise Beach
Loved this beach experience. The bus ride to the beach was only $15 per person round trip. The beach chair and umbrella fee was $10 per person. The wait staff was always there when you needed them. The food was good - had the bruschetta, coke and water. The water felt refreshing- didn't go out to far in the water as the waves were stronger the day we were there. Be prepared to see skin as many people were without clothes. So beware if you have children.

Many shops that are all quite similar with similar merchandise. Found one shop where a local man was hand making leather sandals for $25 per pair. Bought a pair and love them. Try the local food, such as gyro's and gelato. The wait for the cable car was horrendous - waited about 1 hour to get to the top; however the walk looks like it would have been worse. do not ride the donkeys!

  • Venice
Venice itself was very crowded. The line to visit the Basilica was over a 4 hour wait in 95 degree heat. The crowds were overwhelming. The city itself is gorgeous and wonderful. Go when the crowds aren't this heavy. It is very easy to get lost amongst the city walls.
