My wife wanted to go on this cruise. We usually go in the fall to coincide with our anniversary, but, this year we went soon after the ship came to NYC. We usually take the first one out, but, this year the first one out was a four day trip to Bermuda with no nights. Also, we got canceled out of Grand Turk on a prior cruise and got cancelled out of Amber Cove two years ago on the Carnival Vista. So this cruise presented us a chance to visit two ports of call we never made in the past. The middle port we choose not to go to since we have been there before. Everyone lines up at the CVS since that is the first place with air conditioning going out the front door. This was our 26th cruise and our 16th with Carnival. We had problems with our safe in our stateroom. Our Room Steward was helpful to getting the problem squared away. We started with two sea days. Played table tennis in the sports center every day. Went to gym most days. Met some kids of Cruise Critic members. Didn't get to see them so much since it was either Cruise Critic or Carnival who never sent notice to me when the Cruise Critic Event was. Sorry folks, but, if I don't know of the event, how could I be there? That was a down part. Dining- for the most part was good. Our waiter took too many liberties with deciding which wine I wanted with my dinner. I order one wine once and it is with my dinner the next night. So, I ordered something to go with it. As well as a scolding since it is not up to him what I will drink with my meal. Some nights had bad choices. Then I choose the salmon. One night I wanted grilled salmon which was not on the menu. Another night I wanted beef wellington and got something else. Later got my beef wellington. Service by the room stewards was excellent. The stateroom was kept clean. If we needed anything we just asked and it was there. Dining Room service was spotty. Didn't like the waiter wanting to choose what wine or any wine I wanted with my dinner. Entertainment and Activities- Some of the shows were pretty good. Others didn't do it. There was no country music played at any of the lounges or on records playing in the casino. Missed that. Played table tennis daily. Played in the casino daily. Cruise Director, The Flying Scotsman, was very good. Ports- Grand Turk- we went on a tour. The tour was very good and took us all over the island. Showed us where the US military was. Learned about the history of the island. Went to an Anglican Church, a market area, and to see the lighthouse. When we got back near the ship we had time to shop in stores. San Juan- We have been here before. Wife was tired from day before so we just stayed on the ship. Played table tennis, ate, rested. Amber Cove- Went on shore Excursion. It was very good and interesting. We went around Puerto Platta. Went to a church, Cigar maker, the country side, chocolate factory, restaurant, and farm. Very interesting. Had lunch at a restaurant and the owner also owned a farm. Saw that too.

Cabin Review

Ocean Suite
Cabin OS
We had an Ocean Suite. It was great. Lots of room. A nice sized balcony with two tables and three chairs. King sized bed, couch, two chairs, three closets, drawers, lots of space to hang up clothes, refrigerator, desk, safe that broke down a few times, but, Carnival did fix it.
