We were invited on the 13 May 2018 but had already booked the following 5 weeks so it was consecutive cruising for us, it was an eye opener to see the way people present themselves when something is free it was occasionally embarrassing and sad to see a beautiful ship being treated without respect. The extra 100or so cabins have made a difference to the number of people using deck space and bars etc and walking the decks when people are sunbathing is not an easy option, we had a JS and it was as always very comfortable, clean and came with good service. We never used the main dining room but the Windjammer was excellent, the selection of food was very good but the lack of waiters was definitely noticeable, but I must say that all staff were very welcoming and friendly. The 5 night 1/2 term cruise was a nightmare with obnoxious vulgar teenagers whose parents should have been supervising their behaviour, those of us who have been lucky enough to have had children do not pay thousands of pounds to endure the bad manners of Someone else’s children, not all I must add were behaving badly. We thought the NEW Independence was really well done and especially the Suites lounge where at last those who are in Suites have an amazing view in stead of a windowless room. Sadly the room does not give access to D+ and that in itself has caused a problem however the whole of deck 14 is open to D & D+ from 5pm to 8pm and that area is also very comfortable with great views. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but some comments are quite unfair.
