We have traveled with Princess on the Grand Princess to Tahiti (2004) and had the best time ever. Great ship, great ports, and great customer service so when we decided to cruise again we choose Princess to go to the Carribean. Worst idea ever! The ship was nice and the ports were great but the customer serve was horrible. I thought it was just us but speaking with others on the cruise it was agreed that the staff members were rude. At this point, I was done with Princess and thought I would never go on another Princess cruise again however the next two cruises were with a group of people who wanted to travel with Princess so we reluctantly agreed. The next cruise was in the Mediterranean. Again ship was nice and the ports were beautiful and customer service was lacking. Coming back, the Captain lost time due to the storm that was passing through so he pushed the ship faster then he should have to try to make it back to our final port in time. There was a loud boom, the lights went out and we were not going to make it back to port. We were never told what happened but everyone missed their flights and we were forced to stay a night in Rome on our own dime. Princess refused to refund any of passengers the cost of the hotel stay (which was not cheap) for something that was clearly their fault. By the way we took another Mediterranean cruise with ROYAL CARRIBEAN and had a great time. The ship was great, the ports were beautiful and best of all customer service was top notch!!!! And finally, the last Princess cruise was this one down the California coast. The ports of call were great, the ship is nice. Unfortunately the Princess staff has a lack of customer service especially when an issue arises. Once again we had another issue. The cabin next door flooded so it flooded our cabin. They sucked out the water and eventually put fans in the room to dry it out but it was still damp. We had to request several times to put the fans back in the room to dry it out. Once it was finally taken care of the floor boards were warped and the room was left smelling musty. It was a huge inconvenience as we didn't have a room to return to as we pleased and had to work around the fans when getting ready for dinners and formal night. We were given two different answers as to what the cause was as we were concerned with allergies and unsanitary water issues. Once again Princess pushed us to the side and only offered us a minimal ship board credit on the evening of the last night on board. They refused to work with us for something reasonable. On this cruise, the ship was nice but you can tell it is aging. The rear of the ship shakes horribly when they pull into port which was quite frighting. The cabin, food, and entertainment were average. The special guest comedian was super funny. At dinner with the fixed seating the Jr Waiter was amazing however the Lead Waiter Eric was rude with no social skills or personality. He basically took our order, placed the food on the table, removed the plate, and pushed us out. Was not pleasant. Let me end by saying that though we have traveled with Princess 4 times and the customer service was not great on 3 of them I have to say that there were a few staff members that were amazing and they should not be lumped in with the rest of the staff with terrible customer service. Please when choosing to cruise go with Royal Carribean or Celebrity cruise lines where service is impeccable.
