I chose this cruise because eight other couples were going on this particular ship. At many times the crowds on board were overwhelming. The service and shows were top notch, but a lot of the time we felt like we were living in a high class shopping mall. There is too much emphasis on pushing the merchandise. If I wanted to shop, I could go to any neighborhood mall at home. Labadee was the most beautiful port, but it isn't able to handle the 6800 passengers. We couldn't get a beach chair within sight of the beach. The lines for lunch stretched around the buildings. The local artisan merchants were too pushy and refused to take no for an answer. St Maarten was beautiful, and is still trying to recover from the hurricane. The Golden Eagle sail away excursion was fun, but the snorkeling was poor; cloudy water, and crowded. The food and culture in San Juan was great. Excellent tour guide with lots of knowledge and energy, small group and great food. Royal Caribbean charges 18.5% gratuity for the shore excursions, but I really doubt that the actual staff sees much of that. The Golden Eagle crew was asking for tips at the end of the excursion. There were 5 staff and about forty passengers with automatic tipping amounting to about $800+ for four hours work. With a charge of $90 per guest, surely the staff isn't relying solely on tips. Overall, Oasis of the Seas is very impressive, but too large.

Cabin Review

Cabin 9292
Cabin was as expected, tight but adequate. Cabin steward was exceptional. Cabin was very quiet and private.
