  3. Norwegian Pearl
This was our fourth family cruise on NCL with the kids and extended family. We always enjoy the family atmosphere of the ships and how there is something for everyone to enjoy. We were really excited to experience Harvest Caye for the first time as well as Costa Maya. We had also never gone out of the Port of New Orleans so that was a fun addition to our journey. The trip was superb and the cruise staff was amazing, as always. NCL employs the hardest working people that we have ever met but they are all so friendly and enjoy telling us about the places from which they hail. My children loved talking to the different servers each meal and asking about their homelands. Our cabin steward, Deo, delighted us by incorporating my sunglasses into our nightly towel animals and he even had a towel monkey hang from the ceiling toward the end of our cruise. I cannot recommend the Norwegian Pearl enough. We had sailed on the Jade two years ago and loved Spinnakers so it was fun to feel like we were among an old friend when visiting Spinnakers on the Pearl. Our only complaint was that one of our incentives was the stupid specialty dining packages. We did not enjoy the specialty restuarants nearly as much as we enjoy the main dining room. We also were not big fans of the Legends show.

Another fantastic NCL experience

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony
Cabin BA 9584
Our cabin was amazing. We had family in 9582 and 9586 and we would all meet on our balconies every morning and evening. It was PERFECT for watching us sail into and out of port. I highly recommend this side of the ship and this cabin. My mother has mobility issues and it was easy to get her down one floor to O'Sheehan's for breakfast several mornings.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Costa Maya
We enjoyed Costa Maya as a new port and just hung out on the shore shopping, having lunch, and sharing a cocktail. This port is beautiful and has a gorgeous, unspoiled view as you sail away.

  • Dune Buggy
This was my fifth time to do the Dune Buggy Beach and Snorkle. The dune buggy was great but the snorkle was chaotic and horrible. We much preferred driving the dune buggies to the gorgeous beach and having lunch. The tequila tour is also amazing and we brought money specifically to buy tequila from THAT place this time.

  • Harvest Caye
This place exceeded our rather high expectations. I cannot wait to go back. Once back on the boat, we realized we hadn't even ventured halfway down the island! There is so much to see and do and it is truly breathtaking. There is something for everyone here. I highly recommend stopping to purchase chocolate bars on your way in. They will store them until you are headed back to the ship. They will be more expensive in Costa Maya.

  • New Orleans
This is my least favorite port. Service is disorganized, parking costs way too much.

  • Beach
We went on the Maya Key Private Island Retreat and will book this same adventure EVERY time we are in Roatan from here on out. The beach was gorgeous (we had previously not had good luck with beaches in Roatan) and the animal sanctuary was the cherry on top. The kids loved feeding the monkeys and watching the sea lions.
