This was our 6th cruise (previously 4 with Carnival and 1 with NCL)...this was our first with Royal Caribbean. We have always cruised with our children who are now 8 years old and 10 years old. We also cruised with two other families. Pros: -Beautiful large ship with all the bells and whistles -very well maintained ship...some carpets were showing their aged - we had a boardwalk view balcony which was worth saving the $1000 over having an ocean view balcony -boardwalk area was fun to visit with my kids....they loved the shops, the diving show in the back, and the carousel - They said they prepare 60,000 plates of food a day on this ship. I thought the food was really good. We did not spend the extra $$ on the specialty restaurants as I thought an extra $100 per couple was a little on the expensive side and we all agreed that they main dining room had great food -The main indoor promenade was a neat area bustling with people in the evening...we enjoyed the Irish Pub and the 24/7 pizza joint. The shops were expensive, but we enjoyed window shopping - The crew members were all very friendly and were working very hard - Central Park was very beautiful with the thousands of real plants and trees....it was a great place to enjoy a quiet moment -The Wave Riders were really enjoyed by my whole family. Lots of fun and staffed with very informative fun people. - I liked how there were lifeguards at all of the pools - The dining room food was really good...risotto, pork tacos, cheesecake, lava cake...lots of good quality tasty options - I was very happy with how quickly we were able to get on and off the ship - I was able to bring on a case of coke and 4 bottles of wine which was nice - with our boardwalk view room we got two pop cups with free refills all week which was nice. Cons: - Our cabin was very poorly laid out. Horrible amount of storage for a family of 4. We were far more comfortable in our Carnival cabins with had bunkbeds for our kids. It was very hard to move around the cabin...it was beyond small. - No waterslides....this ship has a lot to offer, but for my young kids they were very disappointed that there were no slides - No really good bbq by the pool. On carnival they have Guy Fieri Burger joints right beside the pool....very good restaurant quality burgers.....they did not have this. Just the small wipeout cafe which did not have great food - Our biggest complaint was having to book shows in advance. They only had two comedians on board and they performed the same set all week! A huge disappointment as in the evening there isn't much to do if you don't want to gamble or sing karaoke. Carnival flies in new acts in each port and has a nice large venue dedicated to comedy. The comedy theatre on this ship is way too small! - I found that there was a lot of up selling. I hated in Labadee that there was almost empty VIP beaches and the other beaches for us regular people were jam packed. Also charging $100 for a 30 second zipline ride is robbery! - I also didn't like how there were no affordable show excursions....everything was over $100US per person which is ridiculous. In Puerto Rico we hired a cab which gave us a tour...took us to a beach....and picked us up and brought us back for $60 per family. - There were a lot of "for fee" restaurants. They looked good but they were too pricey. On Carnival for $25-$30 a person you go have an amazing steak dinner....these were all $50+ person which I think is pretty crazy. - The ice show and the broadway shows were quite cheesy....I will admit they were the best I've seen on a ship, but still really cheesy. - The kids camp kept my 10 year old engaged in fun activities. However my 8 year old son was very bored and never wanted to go. Some of the youth staff seemed hungover and not overly into their jobs at times. - The food at the buffet was not amazing, but the best I have had on a cruise ship Overall for what we paid I think we got good bang for our bucks. You can tell they are cutting costs with less staff and lots of extra add ons $$, but I think this is industry wide. I would cruise with RCL again....I would like to see some entrainment changes in regards to the comedy....some waterslides...and better cabin storage.

Cabin Review

Cabin 8303
Too small with very poor storage for 4 people. Liked facing the boardwalk....it was quiet when the door was closed. It's not an overly busy part of the ship. Worth saving the money over an oceanview.
