we took a cruise on the Jewel of the Seas last year with some friends and were, frankly, a bit embarrassed by the cruise since we selected the ship. there, the dining room was cramped, not enough waiters, cold food, and a very hurried atmosphere. this year we were about to undertake an extended family cruise with us (the grandparents), children (late thirties to early forties and spouses) and grandchildren (2 boys ages 8 and 11) and were a little concerned given last year's experience. while there were only 8 of us it covered a wide span of ages and tastes. additionally, we have 4 milk allergic (not just lactose intolerant) and 2 vegetarian/pescatarian. we told this to the head waiter who then worked with the waiter and assistant waiter to be sure all of our needs would be met. each night our food issue members were shown the menu for the following night and made their choices. these menu items were then modified to meet their dietary restraints. it was a little awkward at first but soon it molded into a smooth routine. the dining room was beautiful, the pace relaxed, the food served hot and always choices for all.a huge difference from our experience on the jewel of the seas. on board the grandkids and grandpa enjoyed the basketball court and the slides and free skating was enjoyed by all. the shows ran the gamut of very good (juggler/comedian) to very soso broadway reviews. the casino staff were very professional while not being too stuffy. the embarkation and disembarkation both were very smooth and quick.we have now gone from thinking we would never take another rccl cruise to recommending them to others.

Great service in dining room
