We had booked this cruise 2 years ago and were very excited when the time finally arrived to go to Antarctica. We spent 3 nights in Buenos Aires beforehand and enjoyed our time there. Embarkation was straightforward, our inside cabin on deck 8 was ready quite early, we had lunch at Oceanview Cafe after we dropped off our things. The food there was very good as it was for the whole cruise. We of course knew that this cruise involved a lot of days at sea, and that Puerto Madryn had been cancelled but our main focus was to see Antarctica and because we were so lucky with the weather we were able to see for ourselves this glorious place. At our first port Ushuaia we took a taxi with friends to visit Tierra del Fuego National Park, the driver took us to the main stops and was very informative. Rounding Cape Horn was incredible as the water was flat, and we were able to slow down and even observe the famous statue there. This was really unheard of, very often ships don't even get to complete rounding the island! The good luck continued for our main stops for cruising in Antarctica, Paradise Bay and Elephant Island. Beautiful and calm weather allowed us to get outside and take in the beauty of this magnificent part of our planet. We were also able to get to the Falklands where we did a ship's tour and got to see the wonderful Gentoo penguins. There was a mix up with the tour we had booked being cancelled, and having to take a substitute tour which was far more expensive, but we complained to the excursions people who resolved the matter to our satisfaction, In Montevideo we did our own walking tour which was fine, we had been here previously. The ship itself we found to be in good shape, our cabin was in excellent condition, as were the main public rooms. The dining room food was of a very good standard, our party of 8 did select dining and we never had to wait for a table. The service was always good. We also ate at Qsine for a special occasion and enjoyed the experience there. Tuscan Grille was also very good. Entertainment was of a good standard also, and we loved going to see MickeyLive, his knowledge and enthusiasm added greatly to our understanding of what we were seeing. Ranger John and Dr Peter also gave additional insight to our journey. So, all in all this was a fantastic cruise, we cannot fault it!
