  3. Carnival Dream
We went on this cruise with 85 new and old friends. We first started cruising with this group in 1998. Since then the quality of the cruise has gone down a lot! The food and service used to be wonderful. The food on the Carnival Dream was awful. Poorly cooked, never hot and very repetitive. The quality was terrible. We had a balcony suite at the very back of the ship because we were told they were bigger. It was bigger, but it was filthy. Even after they washed it (5 days in) it was still not useable. The furniture and the glass railing weren't washed so we couldn't sit down and see out and enjoy the view. The wait times in the Dining Room was terrible. We waited one night over 50 minutes between our appetizer and main course so we had to skip the dessert and coffee or we wouldn't have made the show. Most nights the food came lukewarm at best because it sat around waiting to be served to us. Carnival has cut back a lot on the number of wait staff they have. The cabin was clean, but very dated. The couch was worn and the leather needed washing. The paint was peeling off of the lamps. The main shows in the Encore Lounge were very good. Embarkation was easy and went well. But it was raining when we embarked so finding a seat to have our lunch was next to impossible because everyone was trying to crowd into a sheltered area. The pools were very clean and nice to swim in. Carnival totally destroyed my luggage on disembarkation so now I have to go thru their hoops to get a claim reviewed. I had to ask them to wrap my suitcase in duct tape so I could get my mangled luggage onto our flight home. They didn't seem to care that my luggage was beyond repair and put on the form "broken zipper" The whole end panel was totally ripped off! And in fact the zippers worked! Overall, Carnival has slipped below the standards we expect in cruising and we won't be sailing with them again. We went on a 21 day cruise in January with Holland America and they will be our cruise line from now on. Just about everyone in our group of 85 were disappointed with the food and service.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View
Cabin 6N 6483
Large cabin with lots of space and good storage units. Very dated though. Had the air conditioning switched off but it never went off. The hair dryer is very hard to use because it's hard wired in and the cord length is very limited. The balcony was not useable because the deck was filthy, as was the furniture and railings. They washed it once and made it worse! Just pooled the muck.
The cabin is right above the Burgundy Lounge and several nights our bed was vibrating with the noise from the music below.
