  3. Carnival Dream
This was a wonderful trip. I have not sailed on Carnival in 10 years and my boyfriend had never been on Carnival before this trip. We spent one night pre-cruise in New Orleans at Hampton New Orleans Convention Center, it was very convenient and offered a free shuttle to the port you just had to sign up at the desk. The quickest embarkation we have ever experienced. The terminal was organized and the employees were polite and knowledgeable. The food was great, there were always plenty of choices and if you didn't like something it was encouraged for you to order something different. Our cabin was plenty big for 2 adults and offered lots of storage. Activities we participated in were fun, we tried every bar, lounge, saw every show and each comedian and the piano bar. There was never a lack for options. We enjoyed the ports and excursions very much and felt the value was worth the experience. Disembarkation was simple and organized, it even started a little earlier than expected based on the documentation we were provided.

Cabin Review

Spa Balcony
Cabin 8P 11237
The cabin was easily located near the main elevators and spa. The cabin offered ample closet space, hangers, and other storage space. Our room was clean and we had no problem requesting and receiving twice daily service.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Cave-Tubing
The excursion itself was enjoyable, we love caves and it was nice to float through one in cool river water. The scenery is beautiful and the walk was not strenuous at all. Definitely wear closed toed shoes, either tennis shoes you don't mind getting wet or good water shoes as the ground is dirt and river rick so not even.

This excursion is crowded, but unfortunately I don't think there is a way to change it. I don't however understand why they tie 8 tubes together with a guide, they could easily post people in various locations, put you in and then help you out at the end, there really isn't a way for you to get lost.

It is also hard to hear your guide talk about the cave, ours unfortunately didn't really give us a lot of information but we didn't mind.

This was one of the best excursions we have ever been on! It was great being on the water and sailing. We learned a lot about sailing, the work that it takes and the enjoyment that you are rewarded with. We would definitely do this excursion again.

The only challenging part is the getting on and off of the sailboat. I am sure there is probably a better way to accomplish this but I am not sure of the rules and regulations as to why they do it the way the do. You get on a tender and you are taken to your sailboat and you board it, when your race time is over the tender comes back and gets you, it would be much more convenient if you could get on and off at a dock as there is little shade on the sailboat.

  • Beach
This was our first time at Mahogany Bay and it is absolutely fantastic. You can either book a beach day ahead of time or just get off your Carnival ship and walk over (or ride the chair lift) and sign up there. The water was clear and the perfect temperature. Snorkeling was good. Kayaks were phenomenal and we saw some sea turtles. The chairs were comfortable and the clam shell provided the perfect shade. Food and drinks were good, reasonably priced and brought to you by just asking one of the waiters.

Definitely would do this again and it is a great day whether you are a couple or a family with all ages.
