We chose this cruise because my sister in law and her husband had already booked and because we could get a balcony cabin at a great discount. We had cruised with RCC about 5 years ago and enjoyed it. The embarkation process was smoother than others we have experienced but still entailed standing in queues for prolonged periods, not good for older passengers. The ship looked imposing from a distance, but close up there was a lot of rust visible along the upper decks. The ship's interiors were well-maintained and the decor was pleasant. We were not fans of the level 5 promenade and found it a bit of a mishmash, too narrow and difficult to manoeuvre when there were bands playing or sales happening. Our cabin was a deluxe balcony on deck 7. It was the best cabin we have ever stayed in. It was spacious, had loads of storage space and the bed was huge and very comfortable. The balcony was a little small, just enough room for 2 chairs and a small table. Very pleasant for our room service breakfast. Our stateroom attendant Caetano did an excellent job. We had enrolled in the Cruise Critic Roll Call and received notification from RCC that we would be invited to the Meet and Greet, but we didn't receive an invitation and missed it, as did my sister in law. We had booked a dining package and were advised that the first booking would be made for us and would be delivered to our cabin, but this did not happen either. These notifications could have been delivered by the online stateroom messages, instead of all the marketing blurbs. We booked the dining package because other reviewers had been less than enthusiastic about the Windjammer and Main Dining Room and were glad that we did. The food and service in the Chops Grille and Giovanni's was excellent. However, a couple of meals were marred by the poor behaviour of other guests and we were disappointed that the dress code was not adhered to, not even on formal nights. A quiet coffee shop near the Library would be a welcome addition. The ice shows were excellent, we didn't go to any of the other shows. We went to the late night disco at the Deck 14 HighNotes Lounge on Day 9 for a final bop and were disappointed to find that the DJ was not there, there was just taped music playing which was not even dance music. We loved the Trivia quizzes but found that some of the venues were too small for the numbers of trivia players. We could not fault the service anywhere on the ship, staff were friendly and helpful, often going the extra mile. We booked one shore excursion which was unfortunately rained off. We had visited all ports before, so didn't book any others. We would probably not book another cruise departing from or ending in Australia due to the poor behaviour of many Aussies.

Pleasant cruise marred by behaviour of fellow cruisers

Cabin Review

Cabin 7542
The cabin was the best we have stayed in. It was spacious, clean and airy with lots of storage space. The bed was huge and very comfy. The aircon worked well. Even though the cabin was near the lifts and atrium it was mostly quiet. Caetano the cabin attendant was excellent.
