let me start by saying we were on the cruise that got all the media attention!!! On what was all our first cruise I must say that the whole process and time on the pacific carnival has left a very unpleasant experience in our memories. The lack of communication was the number one trigger of annoyance for my family and I. My family and I witnessed the fight in the pool area that left my four year old traumatised to no longer want to go on level nine. The lack of communication started Friday morning when we woke up and noticed that we were close to land. By the time we were eating breakfast we noticed that we had come to a stop. As we were curious we asked the breakfast staff if they knew why we had stopped, however we were responded with 'I have no idea.' As we were close to land I logged onto my news app as I now had cellular data, there were numerous articles that explained that the cruise had stopped to let off a family. THE NEWS KNEW BEFORE CRUISES!!!!!! I find it hard to comprehend that the captain had to make an announcement over a leaking pipe in the engine room earlier in the cruise but failed to inform us that we had to dock to let off people that would cause major delays. around 3 hours after stopping an announcement had been made after many rumours had already surfaced. I caught up on the disembarkment presentation that evening via the TV, took on board everything that was mentioned including being out of the room and on level 2 by 8.30am. my bags were packed early and the children in bed and alarms set for an early breakfast. My cousin was organised to meet us at 8.50pm having a one hour drive to Port Melbourne. AT NO TIME WAS THERE ANY MENTION THE EVENING BEFORE THAT THIS WOULD NO LONGER BE HAPPENING AND THAT WE WOULD BE DELAYED. Not only had I already been thinking that this was the worst holiday and that my four year old is now traumisted but the next morning absolutely reinforced this. I noticed once waking up at 6am that we were not even in the Bay. When we were having breakfast at 7.30pm it was obvious we would not be at Port Melbourne by 8am. Speaking with other passengers confirmed this. All of which were not informed by any staff. HOW ON EARTH DO YOU NOT NOTIFY CRUISES? put announcements or a letter under each cabin to prepare people who have people meeting them to pick them up or connecting flights. Our letter said we would be getting off the boat at 8.35am LETTER N. We waited on level 9 waiting for our letter to be called out. by 11.30 I thought it was strange that letter A had not even been called out. It took until after 12 for COMMUNICATION to be made that they were no longer going by letters that u just needed to wait in the hour plus queue to disembark. The lifts were a no go, we were forced to go down stairs from level 9 to 2 with two suitcases and a four and two year old and be pushed and shoved for one and half hours by other angry passengers. WE DID NOT LEAVE THE SHIP UNTIL 1.20PM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY cousin waiting from 9am in the car park.
