This was our second cruise with Carnival and I now have learnt that you know what you're getting with Carnival. A well rounded family cruise that isn't fabulous, just a solid family vacation. We found that this ship did not have the best layout for sitting around the pool due to the waterworks activity which wasn't open very often and our kids did once and didn't enjoy! We had previously sailed on Carnival Freedom and found that layout better. The attention to service by all personnel is above and beyond! We found the entertainment was broadly just ok, meaning the shows were fine, the comedians were touch and go with one being good and two being poor. I felt that they should have had more entertainment scheduled for the last day at sea, they just seemed to want to wrap up the cruise and move on to the next one. We stopped in three ports, Cozumel, Belize and Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan. We did shore excursions that we arranged privately which were all great.

Overall OK cruise on Carnival Dream

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View
Cabin 6N 1239
We had two adjoining cabins, 1239 and 1241 with three people in each cabin. As there is an extra shower/bathtub and sink, the actual cabin is smaller than a standard cabin, however, we never found it terribly uncomfortable.

  • River Kayaking
Firstly, Belize is a hassle because you have to take a tender to/from the ship, however, once we got through that, we met our guide, Abner, who was amazing.
The drive to the river/cave was about an hour and a quarter during which Abner provided us with details of the rich history. Once we got to the location, we hiked through the rain forest for about 30 minutes, again during which Abner pointed out numerous things of interest and then got to our Kayaks.
We first kayaked through the caves during which we saw the people who had booked cave tubing. We definitely picked the better option! We had time to swim in the caves and then kayak down the river after which Abner drove us back to the port, this time taking a different route which allowed us to see more of Belize.
I highly highly recommend this tour!

We took a taxi from the port to Paradise Beach. Have a look at the sign when you come out as the taxi rates are fixed.
We got to the beach at around 9:30 which was great as we didn't have a problem getting seats. Entrance is $3 per person, however, there is a minimum food and drink order of $10 per person! (we came in a few dollars under that and they were ok). The entrance fee includes beach / pool chair, access to the beach/pool and bathrooms/
In addition, you can pay $18 per person for unlimited kayak, paddle board, snorkeling and ocean inflatables.
The location got busier as the day progressed so get there early to ensure you get a chair. Everyone enjoyed our day there.

Excellent day with Larsen who picked us up from the port and took us to the zip lines / zoo and then the beach. It was a great day of activities!
