  3. Carnival Legend
This was my best friends significant birthday cruise. 2 couples booked Vista Suites with 1 couple booking a Balcony suite for the occasion with no children. The Legend's décor is quite gaudy all the way through the ship and I understand the Legend theme, but it is not classy. The ship is very tired and in desperate need of a makeover top to toe. Vista Suite was not a bad size, but you are paying for the wrap around balcony not the space inside and the balcony is not fully covered, so if it is raining most of the balcony gets wet which does not allow you to sit outside. Room service also costs money. I have not ever been on a cruise ship previously where having any room service costs, and we were in a suite on this ship. Be careful when seeking information from Carnival call centre in America as you can be given incorrect information re a cruise leaving from an aussie port. The buffet food is basic and it is pretty much the same day after day. The Pizza Bar was so understaffed it was a test of patience to ever get to order a Pizza. At the anytime dining level 3 Main Restaurant there was ALWAYS a queue and we NEVER got a table without having to go and wait with a buzzer at the bar. Food was o'k, but quite often the food that was supposed to be hot was warm or even cold when served. Main Restaurant food and selection not to the standard of other cruise lines. Main Restaurant a couple of times opened for reduced hours of 8.00am to 12.30pm and did not reopen until dinner which I believe to be inappropriate. We dined at Nouveau Restaurant twice which was very nice and of a better food standard and that is an extra $45 per person. If you want a Cabana on the pool deck, better get up there about 7.30 am as there is no time limit and people "bags" the pods all day. Only 1 dedicated small adult pool which fills up very quickly. Entertainment was terrific and some of the best we have seen on cruises. Staff were lovely except for a couple of bar staff. Our steward was terrific. Overall activities for me was lacking. This is a basic cruise and if you have children I would assume this is the type of cruise parents are looking for with the 2 big slides on the top deck for the kids. If you want a quality cruise, with great activities, a good selection of varied and quality food and classy décor, this is not the cruise ship for you. We had a nice time but that was due to our group of 6. We would not have enjoyed this cruise had we gone on our own as a couple.

Cabin Review

Vista Suite
Cabin VS 7298
Not worth the money. Balcony not under cover. Minimal space to squeeze down the left side of the bed which is almost up against the wall with a protruding piece of wall that one has to navigate around before one can get into bed. An Ocean Suite with a large covered balcony and space around the bed is a better option. .
