Viking Tialfi Cruise Review by Sweet Tea Two
- Sail Date: July 2017
- Destination: Europe River
We have traveled with RCCL 19 times, a bit tired of the carribean and I wanted to go and try something else. I have heard great stories from the Viking river cruises, did not think that this was one of the Best Trips I have ever tried. I was skeptical at first, but then my darling daughter Lisa surprised us with our two grand-children on board ages 9 and 15.
Our grand-children were better than some adults on this trip past, this past July 14-20. We had such a good time, they made our trip more enjoyable. We laughed and had fun looking at wonderful castles we played games I even got to win a hand on trivia persuit with the kids, Unlike the snot nosed kids on the other cruise lines, Viking normally does not allow small children on board. My daughter Lisa and her wife got special permission to let the Annika and Spencer on, and they were good the entire time. We had the best vacation. Now grammy has booked another trip on the Danube just hubby and I but I may change it to the Ocean to See Italy, Spain, France, Slovania, Greece. its once in a lifetime to do this and I just may do this and forfeit a 2 yr vacation for this. We saw many castles and loved them all.. go in the summer so you can sit on the deck to see all that there is to see.. and enjoy yourself. The wait staff gave us this mint julep it was so delish its mint flavoring with sprite so yummy never knew this can be so good for you.. very refreshing since it was nearing 90 degrees.. unusal weather we had. We loved Heidleberg and Strasbourg France wished we stayed there longer. Lots of great shopping would like to do more time shopping..
What can I lose but my life and then the bill be solved when they sell my house.. oh well.. I loved every minute of this trip the food was general nothing gourmet but good, the small jared of honey was the best. I love honey so that made my day and evening special too. place on top of my eggs in the am.. so yummy. I felt that my wine in the evening was extra special too. and Also I loved the entertainment just right. I was just so tire of dealing with loud music coming from the upper decks in the regular cruise ships and people being slobbering fools getting drunk all the time and funny music to make you do things you did not want to do and fighting for a seat on the pool deck. I am too old for that. I only wished that Viking will have a retirement on one of these ships for some of us who want to live on one, without anyone to bother us except for giving us our meals and a few good inhouse movies which I loved. I saw 9 in house movies in the room. since the sun goes down at 11:30 pm I got to get my room dark enough to fall asleep.. we had the most memorable vacation and I had a really good time. Value for your dollars goes a long way. Where as the other ships is that once you port for example we were on the RCCL ship we ported in Rome, then we took a tour which cost us additional 400.00 pp tour of the Vatican, this was all inclusive in it... as I saw it costs us a bit more for underground but We took the only regular tour, but you see the value of your dolllars$$$ goes a long way with Viking.> We will be a part of your world again, we can not wait to come, I think I am going to trade off and take the ocean I want to see those places that I never would have seen if I went with Rccl. Thank you for having us as your guests and I look forward to being your guest again in 2019.

Walking Tourthe woman who gave the tour was excellent I can not recall her name we did the Taste of Alacse. It was very good we went to the bakery, Cheese store, the wine shop, pizza shop, candy shop and she took us on the walking tour, a bit too much for me, but I did it nevertheless. If you can not walk on cobblestone streets do not do this, this tour was very very expensive 189.00 pp and you walked 4.52 miles too much my aching back and knees hurt so much. Also the food was very good the cheeses were really good. I wished we had more shopping time in Alacse I wanted to buy a cashmere sweater I saw there but I heard that the prices in france are very expensive so I waited and got a cashmere sweater from LL Bean back home for less than 100.00 in france they wanted 250 euros to this date was more like 200.00. that's too high for me. just because it came from France!!View All 127 Walking Tour Reviews
HeidelbergI liked heidleberg but they were having the Prince William and Princess Kate the day we arrived the next day so they were guarding against them.. overall its a very pretty city. Wanted more time than just 1 hour to shop.View All 108 Heidelberg Cruise Port Reviews
