Jewel of the Seas Cruise Review by jcruiser201
- Sail Date: November 2017
- Destination: Southern Caribbean
It started with the hurricanes. The prices dropped considerably (over $800 pp to below $250 pp for balcony). We called Royal and they upgraded us to a junior suite. Though the room was nice I don't think it made up for the incredible drop in price. Also the junior suite was under the buffet (which we would never have picked) and it was extremely noisy.
The cruise offered everyone free shuttle service. That was nice.
The ports where wonderful. The tours we took on 2 of the islands where a great overview of the islands.
The food and service in the dining room was amazing. Did not really like the buffet much. I have a strict diet regiment so it was hard to get food in the buffet. (I expected this though)
Our room steward was the best we have ever had (35 cruises) He was truly amazing.
I don't like that the entertainment is always in the central area near the elevators. It is way to crowded. We are on a cruise, I think we should be outside near the pool to party.
The embarkation in San Juan is quick and efficient. Disembarkation went very well.
The shows where good. I felt really bad that they hardly had any quests at the shows.
the public washrooms where not as clean as I have seen previously.

had a short beach break which was nice. I am sure there was better beaches but nice nonetheless.
GrenadaTook the water taxi over to the beach Grand Anse beach is fantastic. water taxi lied about the price of the land taxi (it is $5 one way either land or water taxi) but the water taxi guy told us it was $15.View All 633 Grenada Cruise Port Reviews

shopping is excellent
Highly recommend Arista for your watch and jewelry shopping (not sure if its on the preferred list) but we have routinely bought our jewelry and watches there and the service and selection is great.
