I was excited at first to be doing a non-Caribbean itinerary. Spent 5 days in NYC prior to cruise did the big red bus around the city and saw a show, it was great. I finally got to see the 911 memorial also. We had a mini suite and bought the drink package. I cruise on another line frequently and all alcoholic beverages are included in our price so getting the drink package was a must for us. Even with a mini-suite there is no VIP boarding included, its basically a really nice large room with a great bathroom and tiny balcony... that's it. I must say the room made up for the other things lacking, if it wasn't for that room I would have really been upset. When I purchased the drink package I read carefully what was included and if there was a drink limit and times, there were none - UNTIL the day before we cruised, limits were set and you were on a 24 hour clock!! They kept telling us an email was sent to the TA 30 days prior about the change. We and several others never got that notification and even the staff was confused. Bad business! I bought the package so I wouldn't worry about my adult beverage consumption. BTW one night I 2 drinks the next day I went over the limit and had to pay for a couple - made no sense!! We constantly asked how many we had left and then got smart if someone got close we had them put a couple on the other persons card. Not what I wanted to have to do on vacation and we were not the only ones. Best food was not in the MDR it was their buffet, it was amazing with all sorts of food. We could always find a place to sit and didn't have to wait for 20-30 minutes or be sent to a different dinning room for the any time dinning. They don't have that concept down at all. During the happy hours they took all the chairs away from the bar and roped it off. We usually sat at the same bar everyday but during happy we were asked to move for the people who only drank for that happy hour!!! OH but we were drinking. Another ridiculous move on their part. The music was good in the atrium area. I thought the DJ was really good in Club 6. Sanctuary was a treat and worth it. I ordered some drinks and unless they are basic they aren't made correctly or good. Love the little 24 sandwich/salad and coffee shop. If you go off the coffee menu they won't understand what you want. One Barista didn't know the difference between caramel vs the caramel syrup and got very upset when I asked for the syrup. He refused to admit he didn't understand. Annoying and bad service! The itinerary was very good. It was my birthday and they decorated our door which was a very nice touch. Our room steward was excellent! Now for my points of contention. The crowd was much older. There were more scooters then I could count. Tender times were longer to get scooters, wheelchairs and walkers on and off. These were some of the rudest, meanest, privileged people I have ever encountered. Racist remarks were overheard on more then one occasion and this started in line to go thru security and board. Yes, I called the person out on her remark and let it be known that would not be tolerated. Maybe this should not have been my 1st Princess cruise but unfortunately it was. I'll stick to the other cruise lines. Everything isn't for everybody and this review was my personal experience.

My 1st Princess cruise and probably my last!
