This was our fifth cruise with Silversea and our second on The Shadow. We chose a Malaysia/Philippines itinerary which generally was very good. However some towns were 30 to 45 minutes ride from the port with not much of interest when we got there. The biggest disappointment was the food. I had to send several main meals back as being either raw or under cooked. At other times the food was generally dry and over cooked. The ships on board information expressed caution when going ashore to avoid raw or under cooked food. We did not need to go ashore to get that ! Our Australian companions complained to the Hotel Director after which there was a slight improvement for a while. Steaks appeared to have been part pre cooked before hand and came to the table dry, juiceless and over seasoned. We have noticed that each return cruise with Silversea the standard has dropped every time. Cutbacks are obvious and less choice given. Due to the above and the general tired condition of the Ship we would class her as a 4 star cruise ship.

Loss of wow factor
