We received a cruise offer from a Vegas casino because of the amount of money we spend on gambling. We decided to try heading north to Canada/New England. The food was fare - often cold in the complimentary restaurants and the quality was fair - steak was chewy, only dark meat chicken and overcooked/precooked burgers. Buffet selections were better and hotter. The Spa services were nice but pricey considering the services we received and a lot of time was spent trying to sell us on expensive products - not very relaxing. The two excursions we took through the ship were pricey. We had better luck googling things do to do in Portland and Rockland. The Fire truck tour through Portland was well worth the $20.00 and the lobster rolls on the street were delish. In Rockland, we did a sailboat excursion on the Bufflehead - The Captain was very knowledgeable and I felt very safe - again very reasonable. Don't miss Myrtles Tavern in Rockland - great bartender and tasty grilled cheese. Some of the cruise staff looked inconvenienced when they were doing the activities - party line dancing at the pool was an activity - lasted only 10 minutes, not sure why since many cruisers had joined in and were having fun. Payouts at Bingo could be higher when you calculate how much profit is generated. The Casino payouts tightened up after the second day.

Cruise was OK!

The staff on the lobster boat were very friendly and knowledgeable - total cost was a little pricey.

  • Portland (Maine)
Took the Firetruck tour through town (only $20) - great views, narrated by knowledgeable townspeople and delicious lobster rolls from the food truck on the corner - look for the Red Tug Boat/Food Cart.

  • Rockland
We opted for our own excursion once again - We started with a visit to Myrtles Tavern - local bar with great drinks and cheap/tasty food. We then took a sail boat ride on the Bufflehead - The Captain was a true sailor - very competent and super friendly. Alot of fun.

  • Hop On Hop Off
We were interested in seeing the Reversing Rapids - the Hop On/Hop Off Bus was recommended as this is a stop on the tour. If I had known the Rapids were close to the dock - I would have hopped in a cab. The food at the restaurant near the Reversing Rapids was not part of the excursion but so worth it - beautiful view and the food and service were amazing. We accessed the Sky Bridge from inside the restaurant - another great view.
