Queen Victoria Cruise Review by icini
- Sail Date: September 2017
- Destination: Mediterranean
- Cabin Type: Standard Inside
Nice ship, mid size, almost exactly like Holland America one we used last year but not so flashy.
Food was better on Cunard, staff were excellent, entertainment reasonable, thrilled to see Bill Bryson. Concord pilot very interesting.
Ports were good and interesting except for Zandar, which was a waste of time. Loved Kotor.
Cost of drinks extortionate, so stuck mostly to free fruit juice but brought two bottles onboard and paid the 20$ corkage. They are silly, most people I talked to simply drank less.
Removed the daily Service charge and tipped direct. It's the line's job to pay the staff reasonable wages, not mine.
I don't do the formal thing but have no problems with those who want to and was happy to avoid the dining room on formal nights and to wear a jacket at other times.
My wife tells me the lack of makeup mirrors in the rest rooms was a problem.
Everything else perfectly acceptable, we would use Cunard again but not specifically choose them over others.
