Carnival Dream Cruise Review by surfergirl15
- Sail Date: August 2017
- Destination: Western Caribbean
I had an interior cabin and thought I would feel claustrophobic but it was okay. The food in the MDR was the same old same old and after awhile everything starts tasting the same.
I went to one of the shows and it was entertaining. They sang and danced to oldies.
On the last night of the cruise something happened in the casino and all the machines shut down. No one could cash out. That really caused a lot of commotion but it was straightened out sometime after midnight.
I went to bed not too long after that and went to sleep but was awakened by a horrible sulphur smell that felt like I was breathing in fire. I finally went back to sleep and when I woke the smell was gone. However, I felt very sick from breathing the fumes and halfway down the gangway I asked a girl that worked for Carnival for assistance. She said I would have to go all the way back up to the top and talk to someone at the point where you depart the ship. I decided not to do that and finally made my way to the elevator where some very nice passenger could see I was in distress and had someone come over with a wheel chair.and I was whisked past the passport check point and into a taxi after someone got my luggage for me. The taxi took me to my hotel in NOLA and as soon as I could I went to my room and fell asleep. I slept off and on most of the night and had to change my clothing twice because I was sweating so much. I got up the next morning still sick and went to the airport to come home. I went to the emergency room shortly after getting home and stayed most of the night. It has been over 3 weeks and I have been to a pulmonary specialist 2x and am still sick. I am wondering if anyone else on the ship got sick from the smell.
