I won a seat in the $175,000 Carnival Poker Pro NLH tournament so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to play in the tournament (4th time) nor could my wife pass up another cruise. EMBARKATION: Embarkation was smooth - that's helped by the fact that we are Platinum cruisers. STOPS: Our stops were Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel. We have been to all three of these destinations many times. My wife insisted that we take the "See and Sea" excursion in Roatan - to be honest, I was bored and happy when it ended. We didn't take an excursion in Belize. In Cozumel we took the "Amazing Secret River" excursion. I highly recommend this excursion. The only bad parts for me was the 50-minute ferry ride (each way) to the mainland and the 2 hours of "forced" shopping time before you can return to the ship. My wife is one of the world's great shoppers, so she loves to shop. SERVICE: Carnival has cutback on service personal. The cabin stewards have more cabins to clean now so they ask you if you would like once per day service or twice per day service. In the dining room they have cutback as well so expect to spend more time dining than in the past. Our cabin steward, Ida Bagus, was as good, if not better, than any cabin steward we have had. We used "Anytime Dining" (for the first time on Carnival). We often had 10+ minute waits to be seated & we rarely had the same wait staff. On the last night we were seated promptly but no one came to take care of us. After 10-minutes I reminded them that we were there to eat dinner not just enjoy the atmosphere. FOOD: Not great but pretty good - you won't go hungry. ENTERTAINMENT: Carnival hasn't cutback here, at least not sense the last time they cut back on the number of shows or the variety of shows and entertainment. We have been cruising with Carnival since 2000. The quality of entertainment (and other services) has gone down a lot over the years. OTHER STUFF: My wife bought the spa package for $139 for the week. While some people were complaining about the spa she enjoyed it. I bought the $84 WiFi package - it worked great for me . I was able to post photos and do other things online. The casino is VERY smokey - the worse of any ship I have been on. Luckily the poker tournament was held in a conference room on Deck 4 and no smoking was allowed. I didn't play any games in the casino! Deck 2 (mid ship) smelled like sewer after several days. We were forward on Deck 2 and didn't smell it in our cabin. DEBARKATION: Again, since were are Platinum cruisers we got "Priority" debarkation so that went very smoothly.

Cabin Review

Cove Balcony
Cabin 7C 2277
This was the first time we have booked a Cove Balcony - normally we book a balcony on a higher deck, We booked the Cove Balcony on the recommendation of my wife's friend. The cabin was fine. My wife enjoyed being closer to the water but I prefer a higher deck.
Main Deck Inside Cabins, Outside Cabins, Balcony Cabins
