Independence of the Seas Cruise Review by jasper15
- Sail Date: June 2017
- Destination: British Isles & Western Europe
- Cabin Type: Grand Suite - 1 Bedroom
Despite not having printed the boarding passes, check-in went well and we were on the ship within 1/2 hour of arriving at Port. We headed straight for the pool bar where we waited only 5 minutes to get our first drink.
We pre-purchased both deluxe drink packages and the specialty dining package. Had no problems with either.
Our cabin was perfect, so much storage space! Even I couldn't use it all. The only complaint I could possibly make was that there was no electrical outlet in the bathroom but if I remember rightly, that was the same on Anthem last year.
We did the mystery dinner and it was absolutely wonderful. Recommended it to some friends who went on day 10 and they thanked us for the tip. They too were impressed by both the show and the food.
We enjoyed all the ports, particularly Madeira. None of the ports were more than a 20 minute walk from town. All ports were clean and we were never hassled by anyone trying to sell us stuff which was nice.
Highly recommend this cruise, it was great fun. We met a lot of nice people and had a fantastic time.

La CorunaGreat place La Coruna. We wandered around the town and had a lovely seafood lunch. It's important to remember that most of the shops are closed from 1.30pm - 4.30pm for siesta. So do your shopping early or you might miss out.View All 236 La Coruna Cruise Port Reviews

LanzaroteLanzarote is a very different island. We enjoyed ourselves but in hindsight wished we had taken a tour to see more of the island.View All 255 Lanzarote Cruise Port Reviews

LisbonLisbon is a lovely city, there is plenty to see and do. We need to go back to see more of the old part of town. The Time Out market was well worth a visit.View All 795 Lisbon Cruise Port Reviews

Wine TastingWe were in Madeira on a Sunday and almost everything is closed. However we still managed to do a wine tour with our wonderful tour guide Carlos who was well organised and had planned everything perfectly.View All 26 Wine Tasting Reviews
It was a terrific tour and would definitely go with Carlos again!

TenerifeNice place, easy to get around. It was a particularly hot day so we really just had lunch and a few drinks before returning to the ship.View All 468 Tenerife Cruise Port Reviews

Wine TastingIt was the only let down for the entire trip. The guide was friendly but she wanted to talk about her own family rather than the surroundings. We wasted a lot of time waiting around for people in Cambados when we could have had time to explore. The guide wasn't well organised.View All 7 Wine Tasting Reviews
