Just got off 5night South East Asia cruise, leaving Singapore for Penang, Langkwai, and Phuket ports before returning to Singapore. It was our first time on Royal Caribbean ships, and the Voyager of the Seas was a nice ship, 20 years old, but very clean and well maintained. The crew were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble for them, they work very hard. We ate mainly in the dining room on the late sitting for dinner, food was good, can't say it was fantastic, we were with our friends who had never cruised before, and they thought the food was fantastic, as we have done several cruises (mainly with Princess lines) we didn't think the food was up to their standard. We considered going to the speciality restaurants, but the dining room wasn't that bad, some nights better than others, but that may just be the choices of meals we made. We had a balcony cabin, which was very large, with sofa and bed, plus bathroom and good wardrobe space. Lovely to have a balcony to get fresh air and have drinks on. We mainly had room service for breakfast, and it was great to have it on our own balcony. Room service is free for breakfast for continental, but $7.95 charge for cooked breakfast. Plenty of choices for continental. There was kettle in room, which is always great. Entertainment was very good, with lots of music around the ship occurring. The pools were lovely and clean lots of children on our cruise who filled the main pools, so we mainly went to the adults only pool, which was very pleasant, lots of available chairs, and they also have a towel policy so there were always chairs available, as you can only leave a chair vacant for 30 mins with a towel on it, and they then come and take the towel away. Fair enough. We ate at the buffet Windjammer a few times, for lunches and odd snack, plenty of choices, and most people seem to use the hand sanitisers, which was good to see. Plenty of seats available. We did our own tours in Penang and Langkwai, and in Phuket we took a ship tour, which ended up great value. The ship comes into a port that there is nothing around, so it was a good option to take a tour. We did the Panorama tour, meant to be 4 hours and it was 5.5 hours, and we covered a lot of places and of course the jewellery and local souvenier shop, which wasn't that bad. Yes I would cruise on Voyager again if it was the ports and dates I wanted.
